I don't know why people think he was suspended for a noise complaint. He was suspended because he was given multiple chances, had a meeting with the cops and his coach which laid out an agreement going forward and he couldn't keep out of trouble.

Maybe Fred is to blame for not serving a harsher penalty sooner, but to me it sounds like Fred understood what is like to be a college student and understood things like that happen. He also trusted that Bryce was adult enough to behave when he got close to crossing the line and Bryce failed to be an adult in that case.

Its like a guy who gets 2 speeding tickets. Both speeding tickets were pretty minor, but he knows that if he gets a third one, he loses his license for a year. Then the guy gets a ticket for going 30 in a 25. Sure, he was barely speeding and the cop is kind of a jerk for giving it to him, but why the hell would you even risk going 5 over if the consequences were losing your license.

It wouldn't surprise me that if after the meeting with the cops, Fred told Bryce that one more issue like that leads to a missing a game.

I would imagine that Bryce is on a real short leash now.

honestly I'm thinking it's mostly about the weed and being an idiot.

I posted this elsewhere, but I do think it's relevant to the situation, given that Matt White was a wrestler at Iowa State: I'm not saying that Matt did anything wrong, (if what he said is true, he was in the right in every way) but I think it's worth mentioning: I've been around the ISU wrestling program for years, and there is a palpable hatred for the basketball program among a group of the wrestlers. Some of them still think Iowa State should be a wrestling school and don't understand why all our fans adore the bball players.

Again, not saying Matt White did anything wrong, as it sounds like BDJ was being a pretty crappy neighbor. But it could explain why the situation escalated to the extent that it did.

Fred is probably thinking he might as well go to the NBA and make more dough if he has to deal with this BS.
Disappointing to say the least.
Since we can all make up what Hoiberg is thinking, Im gonna say hes thinking "man this Matt kid and the Ames PD suck, once my twin boys both have all american senior years leading ISU to a championship, I'll have conquered college bball and do the impossible with the timberwolves for fun cuz I am the freakin man."
Inspiring to say the least.

I think it escalated for no reason other than BDJ and Nader are ****** neighbors and wouldn't stop being ****** neighbors. No other intent needed.

I agree with both parts. Why he would agree to talk with the Daily is beyond me. He should have known that there will be dumb people criticizing him.

I'm not criticizing him, but I'm skeptical of any neighbor conflict where it's one person telling and reporting what happened. I'm not sure I've ever seen one of those where either side is seeing things 100% accurately. If things are worst case horror story scenario as painted it's incredible that lots of people didn't move out of the building or the building didn't evict BDJ & co. Was it a university owned dorm-like apartment? In a private apartment I'd go as far to say it's hard to believe BDJ wasn't evicted if White's perspective is true. I don't know if they allow horrible behavior to go unchecked in university apartments.

Why weren't they evicted if they were making noise till 4am every night, threatening people and trashing the whole building? I can't imagine any scenario I've lived in where that wouldn't be the case. I don't doubt one or both of them did some bad things, I also realize it's in this guy's best interest to paint things a certain way.

I think they're bad neighbors too. I just can't say I would have handled things the way Matt did. Going to the Daily to be quoted with your name was insanely dumb. I can't imagine why he felt the need to do that and make the situation worse.

People in this thread have said several times that what players may have done at other stops don't matter; they come in with a clean slate. This morning I watched that half hour interview with Fred that I had recorded on my DVR. In it Fred talks about how the players who come in for a second chance know they have a very short leash. According to Fred, they don't come in with a clean slate.

13 heard from other neighbors that also had problems with them. In addition, they had some pictures of crap all over the hallway in front of their door.

Matt White is an intolerable doosh. He had to have known that if BDJ was arrested something like this would have happened. Especially as a wrestler he could have approached this via different channels, such as going through the athletic department instead of through the police. Very dooshy thing that he did.

Did you miss the part where he did go to the athletic department. I can't believe some of you people that are blaming others. BDJ ****ed up, quit blaming others.

Who knows what really happened. I mean I had a roommate who called me during class for leaving garbage EVERYWHERE, and it was literally 1 cup of water on the coffee table. People on the internet who dont know him jumping out and calling BDJ a total piece of crap are being internet punks in my opinion.

At first I thought this, but then his name gets out without his chance to get in front of it. He probably did the right thing to just come out, it would have got out.

I can believe he's telling the truth, but man it seems odd there wasn't evictions or other people moving out. A landlord is going to evict people before he deals with dozens and dozens of complaints from all over the building about one unit. That or he'll just let people move out without a fee. It's just an odd situation if it was call-the-cops-15-times bad with nobody being evicted or moving.

The main thing I've taken away from all this today is that it is apparently outrageous for a person to want to get some sleep in their own apartment at 3 AM on a weeknight. In fact, it is so outrageous that they deserve to be harassed by random strangers over it.

What the hell people
