ok it's time

I got a better idea...
Why don't we just stay put in the Big-12... get better... And kick the livin' **** out of every opponent we face!
And make OTHER teams leave the Conference.

Of all the ridiculous options suggested, we HAVE tried this one, and it did not work.

Posted this in the B1G thread...

Dream conference scenario:

Iowa State
Iowa
Nebraska
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Missouri
Kansas
Kansas State
Northwestern
Illinois

MAP

I know it's hypothetical, and Iowa is dumb. But even I know they aren't that dumb.

you single out Iowa from that?

I'm thinking this could only happen if the NCAA stepped in and split up the conferences themselves. If that's at all possible...

I don't think anything can save this thread, but I'm willing to try the booty:

This thread was derailed the minute the OP thought about opening it...

Seeing how ISU had one of the worst TV ratings in the history of college football I'd say we shouldn't demand a new conference any time soon. We might run out of luck and have the Big 12 grant our wish

I could care less if we go to the MAC. Those teams at least can get to a bowl game. I have been an ISU fan for some time and would enjoy seeing the team succeed on occasion. Forget the money, we have all the facilities and money we need. If we need to cut womens diving team, so be it.

Wow, you really don't know how this works do you?

This fellow gets it!

EMAW inbred. See you don't need sheep to entertain yourself. Troll posts on a team you don't care abouts fan site are almost the same, except it you touching yourself instead of having to chase down some poor defenseless barnyard animal

A real man takes action. A real man controls his own fate. ISU should go independent like Notre Dames and Mormons. Doesn't ISU have a religious founding? If not, then here is a good chance to bring glory to G_d and also show pride. There are tons of Christian TVs out there that would rally behind a team with good old fashioned Midwestern values. Instead of rooting on a team that looks like it fell out da hood, millions would like to root for real Americans who know that value of hard work.

I know I would.

at first I thought OP had the worst post ever, but then I read this gem. Not only is it stupid but its proably racist.

Isu simply has to work to make the Big 12 less fixed than it obviously is...but some other interesting realities the open policy of game fixing leads to...

-WVU fans wishing even more now they got acc or sec
-Louisville probably thankful big 12 picked wvu over them
-BYU maybe a little less amped about wanting to join

This is stupid as hell. You don't pick your conference out by fairness and equality of playing field. You go where it will best benefit you team. TCU and West Virginia didn't come here because they saw an equal playing field, they came here because they saw a way out of the Big East which was crumbling and more money was available.

So we'll be the football version of the Iowa Hawkeyes?

It's not "time," it's just a dream. The only conferences worth going to are the ones who have no incentive to take us.

I do hope, at the least, as our GOR gets close to expiring, that we at least try to convince the B1G to take us. Because the Big 12 isn't going to last another round. Our best shot of getting out is to start the process, not to sit around and wait for others to jump ship and leave us in the cold.

Terrible odds either way, but I'm convinced ISU's only chance of survival in the Power 5 is a concerted, proactive attempt to leave the Big 12. Perhaps we could convince Kansas and Kansas State to join us as a joint package--an all or nothing offer.

This is looking ahead to 2024. The power football holds could show signs of decline by then. Because I feel not only are we in a bit of a football "bubble," but the sport longterm may be doomed. Younger generations care about it less, kids are starting to play later for fear of injury, high school kids are dying on the field from hits and the concussion research appears more and more damning. We need to invest in all sports (especially basketball) and position ourselves for a future that may see more revenue splitting off to other sports, or even evaporate in general.

it is time for us to start looking for a new conference, the Big 12 has did noting but screw the whole league except Texas teams, why do you thin the other schools baled on he Big 12 , Pollard need so start putting out feelers that we are ready to move
I hear the Big East is looking for schools. And just a reminder that the fans of the teams in the bottom half of EVERY conference think that there is a giant conspiracy afloat to help out the teams at the top of the conference. This isn't exclusive to the Big 12 and ISU. If ISU moved to the Big Ten they'd just feel that the Big Ten was favoring Ohio State and screwing the little guys.

I am sure there are some all-white Christian DII or DIII programs that would be ahppy to have you in the stands cheering for them. Your post was truly terrifying by the way. I literally shuddered at my desk.
