He is probably saying that Messingham outsmarted himself. Things were so complicated that players were not on the same page and executing properly. Messingham was likely one of the best weapons our opponents had. The only thing the Messingham Offense perfected was the Three and Out.

Mangino will keep things pretty simple. Probably a lot of options off the same basic sets and plays. Defense won't know what is coming.
