Reseating Hilton?

Wasn't Cael from Utah? He's not a Iowa product. He didn't grow up dreaming of being a cyclone. I still am heartbroken Cael left us though. My family named my little brother after the guy for crying out loud. Oh well....

Wait so the current corner balcony tickets I own wouldn't be mine anymore? That's the dumbest idea ever. I love my seats.

Cael was from Utah, so it is a little different. I was still shocked that he left.

Of course not. What kind of question is that? Even if we added seats by re-arranging them or added suites it wouldn't do anything negative. There is no way anything that would cause that is on the table.

This isn't GIA. That place held like 9,000 people before its renovation. They blew the roof off and added 4,000 seats.

That isn't even what reseating is though from what I have seen. It just means that season tickets and donor stuff resets so people who don't donate much money don't get really good seats and higher donors get worse seats.

It held about 7,000 before the expansion.

I think the media forgets Iowa state is more than just a job and pay check to CFH. The guy grew up seeing games in Hilton and being a ball boy. The guy got his education at Iowa state, the guy wore the colors of cardinal and gold. CFH is Iowa State. Iowa and more specifically Ames area is home to CFH. Being corn fed and Iowa bred as he is, and a lot of us here are for that matter, money is nice but there are much more important things in life like family. Iowans know this to be true and media often forgets this. Iowa state is freds family not just a pay check. Loyal son forever true, hoiberg will fight that battle through.
Winner winner chicken dinner! I wish more of the media saw this instead of consistently saying Hoiberg is a lock to the NBA every year. I think we all know Fred will go to the NBA but I really doubt he does it without getting ISU basketball well on its feet with a few deep tournament runs. I see the absolute soonest he would jet is when his kids are all graduated from high school and ISU basketball would be just fine even after he left.

I haven't been to Hilton for a couple years but isn't there a walkway that goes all around the arena b/w the 100 and 200 levels? It looks like they originally planned to add suites there but just left it open.

Would this reset seats for non-donation season tickets in the corners?

Probably. I bet they expand the seating sections that require donations so there are fewer non-donor seats. Or they completely un-assign seats for everyone and start over by donation level, and when the regular donor seats are filled, they fill the non-donor seats with donors first, followed by non-donors getting the leftovers.

I've been in my corner balcony second row seats since the day they offered them at $99. It will be sad to see them go, but if anyone expected those to last, they were kidding themselves. Supply and demand. Those seats were cheap because ISU basketball was crap at the time.

Yeah, those good of seats need to be more valuable than $99 for the season for us to survive. At one time they were not, but thank goodness they now are.

It strikes me as odd that the news about "officials considering re-seating" comes out in this article before it is even discussed here on CF. For now, I will treat this as nothing more than JP being one step ahead of all of us again. Of course, he is thinking ahead to handling the increased demand for tickets, but there clearly isn't any plan in place for doing so. Surely, some our our posters will catch wind of any serious consideration once it gets underway.

Building suites in the inner concourse is not possible until the balcony exits are reconstructed to exit into the outer concourse. Several years ago, Ames residents voted down a I believe a $10M referrendum to fund that construction with an increase in the hotel-motel tax; ISU students were strongly against the issue because they "did not want their parents to pay the additional tax".

Adding additional seats to Hilton would be very expensive.

For those who want the safe door blown off to ensure Fred stays in town this is probably one direct consequence to that. Wanna pay the man, better open your wallets. Like they said on Murph and Andy yesterday, ISU is lagging far behind when it comes to the available donor pool. It's a night and day difference between what Iowa's donation pool brings in compared to ISU. There's only one way to fix that.

The guy tossed a restaurant table after ISU got eliminated in the 2000 Elite 8.

Personal Seat Licenses. It's been a few years since Jamie didn't anything unique to wring a little more money out of the fans (I'm not complaining, just stating the obvious that the guy is a genius at doing it). I fully expect something unique and game changing coming down the pipe.

I don't disagree with this one bit. Everybody who considered themselves a true fan needs to at least be a $100 member to the Cyclone Club every year.

I do think it's awesome, though, how despite the athletic budget in Iowa City, we still beat their sorry ***** at least every other year.

1.)Probably? Those that want the safe door blown off already know there is no probably about it. Wallets are typically only opened when asked in the fan (owner)-AD relationship. Time for JP to raise the funds.
2.)Which is keeping Fred.

Most people commenting about the NBA don't even follow the NBA and say idiotic things like "college coaches want to get away from the recruiting grind". Coaching in the NBA is 100+ games a year, 50+ road games a year, and 3 recent coach of the year winners got fired just after winning the award, not to mention dealing with players like Deron Williams forcing out coaching legends like Jerry Sloan…then they don't even stay with the team. It is the definition of a grind. Nobody leaves college to coach in the NBA because college coaching is more stressful or time consuming, they leave for money and/or fame and challenge.

Back on topic, how realistic is it to turn the concourse into a ring of luxury box type seating or would regular seating be better? I'm not an architect or engineer but that seems like the one golden goose left in the existing building.
