I have 3 tests this week, so for some the exam excuse could be used. (I didnt use it though.)
Just a reminder that if there are 2100 students not showing up for games and this is a fairly regular occurence then lines are not a problem. You could walk right up 5 minutes before game time and get a seat just fine. Lame excuse.
As a student, I'm embarrassed. We've had two top 25 matchups in a row at home now, and we can't fill our student section. Disgusting.
People who have conflicts aren't able/don't want to go through the hassle of selling their ticket because it isn't a convenient system. Find some stranger on the internet who wants it. Print it out. Work out a time to meet that random person. Just bad.
The other thing that I think is turning people away is that you pretty much have to wait in line to get a spot in the lower level. Maybe people don't want to waste their time and end up getting stuck in the upper level? Seems stupid, because you still get to see the game, but I'm sure that's a factor.

Everyone here wants ISU to become a national relevant program. All the BS you listed are just exceuses why that won't happen. It is absurd that ISU students don't support their team at this critical juncture in the programs history. You don't think ISU recruits read these types of stories? Both ISU and Okie State have had to have their AD or coach pleading for students to xcome to games in the last week. That doesn't exactly scream "our fans love our team." Don't turn into Mizzou and only fill the arena when Kansas comes to town. People may think it's not a big deal to just eat their tickets if they can't make a game but it adds up. Every ticket holder should have a list of people who would be willing and happy to use their ticket if they are not able to. My family was not able to use their tickets to the ISU @ Kansas game last week and it took us about five seconds to find some KU fans to buy those tickets from us.
Not only $2 to give it away, but $2 to print it, too.
That's 2/3 of the cost of an original season ticket.

I have an Iowa graduate that works for me. He attended his first game at Hilton last week and he is a season ticket holder at Carver. His comment to me this morning was that he could see that it is a good home court but what is up with the lack of students. No excuse for that people.
Students are mad they have to stand in line to sit in the lower level? Seriously? Kansas opens the door for student section seating 2 hours before game time and the people that sit in the lower level have been sitting in line for HOURS before that. My father's job advice is "behave as if you have the promotion you want to have, not the job you currently have". If ISU fans want their program to be top tier, then they need to behave as if they already are top tier. Recruits notice when fans support their teams in nasty weather or against less desirable opponents. Don't wait until the program is elite to attend regularly or they will never get the recruits to be elite.
$2 for tickets, exams, c'mon people. This isn't a Greg McDermott team that we have. Get to Hilton.
I am fairly certain that you should be able to find someone to buy a ticket to a game against a ranked opponent for TEN DOLLARS. Put an ad on craigslist. It's free and easy and takes about two minutes.

If they are already tracking student attendance and the lines are causing issues (line-cutters, turning off students) they should just go to semi-assigned seating next year. Break the seats up into lower-lower, upper-lower, and balcony and assign ticket in each zone based game attendance this year. You could still oversell so more students can get tickets and just set it up so each student ticket package has one or two random games not included (maybe weigh the marquee games more heavily in favor of upperclassmen and high attendance). Set up an online system for students to swap out games they have conflicts with. Freshman start out in the balcony and if they really come out and support the team they should have earned good seats by their junior or senior year. Spread out the designated CA committee member seats across all 6 student seating sections and have them earn their keep by keeping the students in their sections engaged. Do your jersey giveaways or student section contests for money in the stands during warm-ups in order to get students in their seats and jacked up early before the games.
Just because they are bad excuses to us doesn't mean they are bad excuses to others. As much as I'd like every fan to literally bleed cardinal and gold blood it isn't going to happen.

I get your point and I don't disagree with most of it, but it's just dumb to use Kansas as a measuring stick for Iowa State. No, our students will not behave like yours right now. If we win the next 9 conference championships in a row, with some Final Fours added in, then our students would.
This is like complaining about KU student turnout at football games and then pointing to Alabama as an example that they should measure up to.
Only good thing is the recruits sit on the same side as the embarrassment and may not see the empty seats way up behind them. Either that or go the RV route and bring them to a game people are guaranteed to show up to.
That comment just kind of annoys me. My son is a junior and never missed a men's game. However, he was very close to not getting in to the Iowa and KU games because he actually goes to class. Again why I think the students who actually go to games should be given some kind of seating preference. It might improve all the games attendance if the students who just go to the big games won't get their great seats to mug on TV (which is what they seem to care about) if they don't show up more.
See my post above. I really think assigned zone seating is the way to go for the student section. I'm sure it would have it's own issues, but it sure seems like it would solve a lot of the current headaches.
For 4 exam classes, yes. This is when a lot of exams are. And no, I didn't say this is what everyone was doing.
