Re: Pres. Leath addresses the Bubu Palo issue at Hilton today

of course it's been Fred's decision, but by unnecessarily highlighting that, Leath is covering his own ***. Playing niang, Kane or anyone is also Fred's decision
LOL.

CF: "HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?!?!?"
Leath: "It happened like this."
CF: "YOU'RE JUST COVERING YOUR ***!!!"

Re: Pres. Leath addresses the Bubu Palo issue at Hilton today

The bottom line for this is that an ALJ looked at the student code and determined that it was not violated. So, if someone versed in the law is able to make that determination, how can Leath...on his own (of course he had advisers)...make a contrary determination? AND...how is it that other players who have been found innocent or had charges dropped are allowed to compete in ISU athletics?

..or even other players who were convicted of felonies...

Don't waste your time. Some have too much of an emotional agenda and are invested too much to think clearly.

Re: Pres. Leath addresses the Bubu Palo issue at Hilton today

I think Leath sounds pretty reasonable in the article... people on here are making him into a villain which is just not the case, and it wasn't from the beginning. Yes, there were absolutely some legitimate questions regarding his actions, but in my opinion, his reasoning in this article is pretty easy to understand and makes sense.

Some of you really love overreacting and making things into a way bigger deal than is reasonable.

Additionally, I liked his response regarding Fred

“We’ve met with coach,” said Leath, “but this is his decision. The player is on the team. Philosophically I don’t see any reason for me to try and coach from the president’s office. We have an exceptional coach, a good coach. It’s his responsibility now. Fred knows that, he understands that and I think he appreciates it. What happens in terms of Bubu on the team is totally up to Fred, just like it is with any other player.”

I honestly don't understand how there can be any issues whatsoever with that statement.

How do you know it was unnecessary? You don't think it's possible that Travis Hines asked him about it and that was his response?

Re: Pres. Leath addresses the Bubu Palo issue at Hilton today

Leath just needs to shut up.

A kid's last eligible year to play college basketball was at stake this summer, and you blew it off on purpose and blamed it on the fact you were basically vacationing in Africa? Really? And we're just supposed to be ok with that?

You purposely waited until Bubu had no other options open to him to decide his fate. That is BS and you know it. Just shut up already. You're looking more idiotic every time you speak at this point.

Bubu took you to task and won. Get over it and move on. Be a man.

No he didn't. When Bubu decided to sexually assault a girl he decided his own damn fate. The administration doesn't owe him anything and the fact that Leath has to continue to answer questions on the topic is ridiculous.

Re: Pres. Leath addresses the Bubu Palo issue at Hilton today

The best thing Leath could do right now is to issue a statement that Iowa State University is going to abide by the court's decision and welcome Bubu back to the team.

I kinda agree that I wish the comments would just stop. The administration had a lot of opportunities to make statements when they made their ruling while not violating the privacy law but they chose not to and that's fine, it was their right. Now there are all these statements that makes it appear that they are covering themselves. I don't know if they are indeed doing that, but perception is reality. I just wish they would say something to the effect that they stand behind their original ruling, they respect the appeal process and will respect their decision. Over and done. Any further questions can be responded to as "no comment". Let Fred do as he wishes with Bubu, the season is almost over, case closed and we all move on.

I have seen no where Bubu convicted of sexually assaulting a girl. About Leath, I agree. I wish he would stop saying things.

If Leath had all this extra evidence like he claims, why did he not give it to the court? He's full of ****, that's why.

Re: Pres. Leath addresses the Bubu Palo issue at Hilton today

The challenge is opinions (on both sides) are based on limited information and yet are turning into facts.

I would like to think that our fan base is reasonable and intelligent to have this discussion without insults, and acknowledging that while someone may have an opinion, they certainly do not have all the facts, and it is certainly far from over.

As an example, I can see where some read Leath's comment about playing Bubu as throwing under the bus. However, I do not read that into it. I simply see him responding to a question a reporter asked.

It would be nice before the lynch mob gets it pitchforks they decide which farm to burn.

I may be incorrect on any of my opinions and if I find facts change from what I thought was accurate, I will respect that.

It would be nice if this could be a more rational discussion, but it is probably not likely.

How could any reasonable person reach the conclusion that Bubu sexually assaulted her? She didn't even bother to show up in court?

There is an old saying, 'me thinks thou dost protest too much'. I'd encourage the Leath supporters here to apply it to this situation.

Except everything that matters says he didn't sexually assault anyone.

Keep trying.
