Couple different approaches to dealing with bad calls...

But isn't throwing chairs and bumping refs doing it the right way? No thugs for players needed when coach is one.

Love the look on Aaron White's face in that pic. You get the feeling he's seen that tirade up close and personal. Those guys play hard, and much like during the Dr. Tom era, I respect the players. Back then, I respected the coach too.

I didn't see the fist to the back of the official on the video. It certainly appears that it was more than a "bump."

This photo also demonstrates that any comparisons to former ISU coaches that were demonstrative regarding calls is inaccurate.

I watched it many times out of amusement. Photos lie. I'm sure the hand never made any contact, and the bump wasn't really that much of a bump either. He made contact, and for that he definitely deserves all punishment, but it wasn't anything close to what you would think if you just looked at that still photo. Dude is crazy though. LE had some pretty good photo moments too.

Fran didn't bump the ref he just crazily screamed at each of them in turn including chasing one the length of the court.

IIRC correctly, Hoiberg said one time: if you have problems with the decision, the best way is to talk to him first.

I agree with the approach: you talk to the referee first, and if he doesn't want to listen, you might want to change your tone. You don't want to antagonize the referees.

Its not WHAT you say so much rather its HOW you say it that matters most.
I know from my experience as a sports official, its always better to be NICE to the officials. I would bend over backwards (NEVER forwards) for a coach whos demeanor I liked & respected.
