I can't tell for sure without a reply-with-quote, but I think this is response to brianhos.

"Rought start" may, in fact, include losing both the U-M and BYU games (getting past UNCW & TAMCC, although possibly not dominating them).

I am prepared for rough-going early, with better results in January-February-March.

Fred's team need to get over the rough starts so they can get better seeds in the tourney.
 
I worry about BYU being somewhat of a trap game. Couple days after a big game with Michigan. Really early in the season. And we go to Provo.

That would help seeding, yes. The "make-progress" formula is working so far; pushing that timeline up a bit is the next step in the process — get a few more meaningful wins (or fewer bad losses) early, even if a unit hasn't fully come together.

I think once ISU has a lineup of fewer new players each year (transfers, jucos and freshmen, some who haven't played together) — November & December might get better.

I'd prefer not to lose both, and I definitely won't write off a win in either or both. It seems realistic to expect the possibility.
