Only because of some discussion here of looking ahead ........Would love to get a 2014 impact player to play the '5' postion. (of course, who wouldn't?) And, I don't care how tall he is.... just so we could have Niang playing the PF '4' and Nader at the SF '3' (think he'd create great mismatches there) along w/ our multiple guards would be sweet!! Who knows maybe we have a better shot at that for 2014 with a transfer big than a recruit, not that it matters, just so we could snag one.

Jaylen Johnson would be so so so great.

So because he's a priority for Louisville that means we have no chance at him? Hoiberg just went and watched him play

Agreed. We need to quit with this type of thinking. (Insert big name school here) is recruiting him now, so we are screwed. I don't think Fred cares, and eventually it will pay off. Fred has already beat out Michigan, Baylor, Kentucky, NC State, Marquette, Wisconsin, Pitt, etc (the list goes on and on) for recruits and transfers. Bottom line is Fred is not afraid, and will recruit the guys he wants just as hard as the big boys.

We are one of the big boys now. We need to think this way.

Never said we had "no chance", thus my wording in the second sentence... "if so.. other possibilities". Sorry, guess I should have worded it "any ADDITIONAL possibilities". Thanks. And, of course, I agree we should never give up regardless the team competing against us for a recruit.

Who did we beat out Kentucky for? I assume this isn't for White, which is somewhat a special case.

You shouldn't assume. Yes we beat Kentucky for only White that I know of. Although, they were interested in Niang after he signed with us and and blew up the AAU scene afterwards IIRC. Either way, special case or not, Calipari wanted Royce, and he played for Fred.

Thinking the same thing. If getting on a plane wasn't an issue, he would have been Kentucky bound. Doesn't count

So he didn't play for us over UK? Special case or not, he played for Fred and had an offer from UK. And again, UK was interested in Georges after he was signed with us.

Regardless, fine, don't count UK if you don't want. The point still stands, Fred is not afraid of recruiting against anyone and has beat out big name programs in the past.

Just like that we are one of the big boys? One of the Blue bloods?

Did I say one of the Blue bloods? But I'd easily put us in the top 10% of D1 schools as far as recruiting prowess. I'd say that's one of the big boys.

We were last year...barely. Have to do it consistently. 2014 class is HUGE.
