DeAndre Kane visiting next week

Fred has said that he will recruit guys that others don't consider high majors if they can shoot and fit his system. I do agree that the bulk will be high rated recruits but they don't recruit with top 100 lists.

I didn't meant to imply that Hoiberg recruits off of lists. My point is he's going to go after guys that he identifies as talented players that can contribute at a fairly high level immediately. Generally those players are often going to attract attention from other schools and scouting services as well and work into the top 100 anyway, ala Niang.

He's going to swing big and fill in with proven transfers and Jucos. Very few filler players will get scholarships going forward, IMO.

If a potential player has graduated, why do they need a scholorship? Does NCAA say all transfer players must be under scholorship?

I believe he would have to enroll in grad school so then he would have to pay his own way if he weren't on scholarship...

They're still going to grad school. It's not like they're hanging out all day playing nintendo until workouts/games.

I went to grad school, and it is entirely possible that is what will happen. Research credits are awesome.

thanks for the reply on the question. I would think to play for Fred at this point in the rise of this program could be an amazing gift for a young man who has been playing at a lower level program. For a gifted few born with wealth, scholarship money may not be the clincher like it is for the majority of folks.
Of course, we wish the very best for every young man in the program. To be a cyclone is not the only path to sucess in life, however to be a cyclone ought to be a step towards sucess

really? If you were a recruit with no ties to either school and had the choice to play at ISU or Memphis, but ISU was not offering a scholarship and Memphis was, you would pay your own way and go to ISU? I know I sure wouldn't

Yeah...I think that is pretty much a no-brainer. Even if you had strong ties to the school it would probably be a no-brainer. Student loans are a *****!

Here is what I heard today. We are going to get Kane and one of the Jucos (I won't say who) isn't coming. Take it for what its worth. Pretty good source. If I am wrong don't chastise me.

When might this be announced?

Interesting if true. Let the speculation continue.....Which Juco will it be?

Honestly, as much as it would suck losing one of the JUCO's, I think that would be best case scenario. It would free up another 2014 scholarship and it might allow Fred to offer someone like Babb.

Interesting. Well Edozie is already in Ames, so I think he's coming.

I have heard which player it is but I don't want to put his name here just in case it doesn't turn out the way I heard it is going to, I would hate to speculate about the wrong player.
