Why can't the best free-throw-shooting-coach in NCAA basketball teach how to shoot free-throws?

You really cant coach freethrows. I remember Kareem and Shaq and Howard all had freethrow coaches and they never got better. It seems that some people just cant do it. It always seems to be guys with huge hands.
