***OFFICAL: I BOOKED MY TRIP THREAD***

Thats where were staying too over those same nights.

Some drinking tips:

1) stadium and bars around stadium are VERY expensive, so be forewarned!

2) the bars around the stadium open at various times. Billy's Yankee Tavern and Stan's will probably be open by 10, however, Billy's might be hosting the RU Alumni Association Pre-Game Party. Not sure we'll know more this week. Regardless, you can call and find out what time they'll be opening if your preference is to drink near the stadium.

3) Most RU fans will be drinking in the city(Manhattan) prior to the game. If you're on the east side of the city just hit up bars near any 4 "express" stop (14th St "Union Square" has a ton of good bars or the area surrounding 42nd St "Grand Central Station"). If you're on the west side or midtown make your way over to the area between Penn Station and Herald Square (where the D "express" line is...), 30th and 35th streets, for some great, and large, pubs and sports bars. I'm actually throwing a party at one, as I usually do the night before our bowl games - from 9-2 on game day - in that area.

4) Just don't go wandering 5 blocks from The Stadium by yourself, following the game, and you'll keep your hats!

Anybody staying near Yonkers? What is it like?

I'm still debating, I want to go so bad just need to convince my dad and brother.

Do It! No Limits!

I've got my hotel booked, and we're driving there! It's going to be awesome.

Tailgating: I'm driving to the game and will park (tailgating is presumably not allowed according to the Yankees) in the Harlem North Lot (500 spots) for $51 including all taxes and surcharges. Is there anyone else going to "park" in that lot?

Try to find out where TheCaptain is parking his RVs for his tailgate.

Any idea what that RV looks like? Or should I simply look around for a flag of his avatar?

Find his post in this thread (or maybe the one about the number of tickets sold). Or search for his posts. Or just stay tuned for more info. It doesn't sound like he will be hard to find. 3 RVs, ISU flags, and all sorts of meat cooking.

Made the decision to go ALL IN and booked our flights and tickets tonight! 2 more tickets sold for Cyclone fans!!!

Were flying in on the 29th, will have the 30th, 31st and 1st to be in the city. Fly back on the 2nd. Staying about 15 miles out of the city in Long Island.

We're having a hard time reserving a spot big enough, close enough.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I've made a list of the Rutgers fans (and Northeast ISU fans) that have posted in this thread. I will PM the list to you. Maybe one of them can help. I've heard them boast about their tailgating, but the only ones that I've heard about are on the roofs of parking garages.

Just pulled the trigger on flights from Chicago to White Plains, NY (in suburban Westchester County just 25 miles north of Yankee Stadium). United Airlines still has "Saver Award Seats" for 25k miles roundtrip (ORD to HPN).

We will either take a cab to Yonkers and stay at the Hampton Inn (short walk and $2.75 train ride to Yankee Stadium) or stay with a friend on the Upper West Side of Manhattan if he is in town.

Also, everyone should find the thread about the 9/11 Memorial. They are now giving away free tickets for Dec 31st. It takes just a few minutes to register and pick your times.

So I didn't really look over any of the thread, but who all is headed to Times Square on NYE. We are thinking about it but not for sure on whether or not we are going.

Got it. Thanks a lot!

Booked my flight yesterday! Flying in on the 29th and leaving the 1st. Whats the word on tailgating spots for this? Also anyone putting together any big plans for NYE for a big ISU outing?

I was browsing one of the Rutgers board threads and saw a link to a site for making parking reservations for the game. They have e-mail and phone contact information, so maybe they can help with special parking needs, e.g. RVs. I've never used that site, and never parked at any of their lots, but I thought it might be of some use.

Definitely an option to consider. For those who will be bringing in RVs or large-scale rigs, look at the surface lots first. Just be aware these are used for tour buses which get first dibs on location... and I will say that the buses that roll from Rutgers are going to have full spreads of food and adult beverages so parking will be at a premium.

But don't let that dissuade you.

I just bumped that thread. They just opened up more spots for everyday at just about every time. I recommend reserving a spot soon so they don't fill up again!
