For the record, I had thought right after Saturday that we would lose in Waco.

But after thinking about it, I really, really think that the Cyclones will come home with a victory.

I know that others have been saying this... but apart from stupid mistakes, we are playing good football. And yes, you can separate the mistakes from the quality of play.

It's the little things like Lenz letting the ball go during that return. (He was fighting for extra yardage, which is good.) Like Steele throwing that pass a little late with Gideon sitting right underneath it. (He had pretty good time in the pocket on that play.) Like LJ losing his composure after forcing a punt. (Did I mention that we had forced a punt?) Like a lack of protection and a poor snap on the blocked punt. (The rest looked solid.) Like Jacques not turning around on the reverse pass for a TD. (He was in position and read the play well.)

On the flip side, we have an offense that was able to consistently rack off some nice yardage on the ground, even with a dinged up offensive line. We have a quarterback who is able to create something out of nothing on every play. We have two running backs that I believe are going to be very good ones when all is said and done with their careers. We have a receiving corps that is much improved from just one year ago.

Most of all, we have a defense that held Texas when it mattered. 3 early turnovers, two big plays by them, a special teams touchdown... that's how they got to 37. It could have easily been much, much worse with the lack of focus and discipline from this team.

Baylor will be more talented on offense than Texas, but much less talented on defense. Our defense will be in a dogfight with them, but will be hungry. Meanwhile, our offense will have something to prove. I think this is the week that the discipline makes a comeback in a big way. Sure, RGIII is a freak, but he's one guy. And we, as a team, are ONE.

Believe, Cyclones. Believe!

I hope your right. I'm more optimistic about us beating Mizzou than Baylor. Kinda thinking it will be like last year when we lose to Utah and Oklahoma pretty handedly and then beat Texas but in this case it will be Missouri.

if the offense doesn't commit stupid early turnovers like they have in the first 4 games then we have a shot...but it's happened in every game so far so until it's corrected this could get ugly and fast.

For some reason, I doubt that the woes we continue to have with shooting ourselves in the foot will just magically disappear. I think we can "contain" RG3, but our offense hasn't shown we can win in a shootout (which is what it would take). Yes we put up 44 on Iowa, but in regulation that 24 is our highest output of the season (20, 24, 24, 14). I'd guess somewhere around 38-24 in favor of Baylor.

Just when you start to doubt Paul Rhoads, he usually pulls off a great win. Hopefully that is the case this week.

I think your forgetting that we got pretty dinged up on Saturday and will be at less than full strength, not just this week, but the rest of the season.

I think ISU matches up better with Mizzou than Baylor.

Also agreed with this.

I have a terrible feeling about this Baylor game and even before the Texas Massacre (not chainsaws necessary, just turnovers), thought this was our 3rd toughest game of the season (OU and OSU being 1 and 2).

Barring injuries - and that really on pertains to RGIII - I think we get rolled.

I would love to come back and chow-down on some crow but I just don't see it in the cards here...

Key point right here. Do we have enough depth to pull this one out?

Agree with OP, I think we take them down fairly easily assuming we hang onto the ball. We have a good team, it would be a shame if we waste this year with all the brain dead mistakes. The turnovers haven't been a big problem with PR teams in the past, they will get it fixed.

You gotta think too that Baylor lost to K-State last weekend and looking at the end of the game on replay RGIII look pretty ******. He'll want a W this weekend. Do I think we have a chance? Yes. It's going to be tough though...

While this is definitely true, I remember going to Lincoln a couple years ago supporting a banged up Cyclone team.

Gotta believe!

I think this will likely be the worst defense we've played so far this year (yes, including UNI). We also may be the best defense that they've faced so far this year, although K-State may be slightly better.

I give us a fair shot. If it were in Ames, I'd predict a victory, but it will be tough to do it on the road. I do expect a close game however. A lot will depend on us cleaning up the turnovers.
