Fairley had 1 good year. He is far from a proven prospect. I also said years from now, not this season. Vandenbosch only has a few more years before he is done. Gerald McCoy, Clayborn, and Bowers have far more potential than a guy starting the backside of his career. You also have to remember that some ''experts'' and NFL scouts actually thought McCoy was a better prospect than Suh(which I thought was ridiculous). Suh is by far the best of the bunch. Fairley also has major concerns with work ethic, conditioning, and personal issues. 3 guys, including two pass rushing DE's will be feared more than two DT's. Suh, of course, will be the most feared individual though.
The problem becomes that when you put two guys side by side like they will be, it becomes very hard to block them. I agree Fairley has issues but you neglect to mention Bowers will have to have knee surgery in the next few years.
The Mallett pick is great. You need another QB, you have time, and Mallett has the highest ceiling. Good pick.

They started this stockpiling technique in 2008, and yeah they're a good team, but they haven't won a playoff game since 2007. Shoot, it's been 7 years since they won a Super Bowl. That's not a dynasty.
Huh? An unproven guy vs a guy that was starting to dominate the line before getting injured last season? That statement is whack. Also, I forgot about Brian Price, the Bucs second round pick (35th overall) last season. That's 4 first round talented players they have drafted in the last two years. They will have a much better d-line in a couple years than the Lions. The Lions will have the best player, but as a whole it won't compare.
Clyburn and Bowers are far from proven prospects. Years from now all teams plan to have dominant defenses. Bowers may be done now- Vanden Bosch as a proven NFL starter is better than guys that may not be anything in their careers. Suh is by far the best of the bunch. Clyburn also has major concerns with work ethic, conditioning, and personal issues. 2 guys proven to be NFL players are feared more than risky draft picks. There are dozens of draft picks that had great potential out of the league.

I said it in each post. In years from now. NOT this season. Vanden Bosch is getting age on him. He has only a few years left. Clayborn has no issues with work ethic or conditioning. Suh is definitely the best of the bunch. I love Suh. Always have.
You predict they will. That doesn't mean that it will happen.
Years from now two of those guys probably wont be with the Bucs, or even the NFL.
Clyburn's work ethic and conditioning is just as suspect as Fairley.

So how does this work? We get to proclaim the Bucs guys a success before they get there when one of them has a knee problem that has taken him from the top 5 of the draft to the second round when there is so much need for him but claiming that Fairley, who played against much better competetion will not be successful alongside Suh? If that's the case, you win. I can't win under that scenario.
Yeah, the consensus best DE in the entire draft went in the second round because of unsubstantiated claims his knee is messed up. I doubt it. People are concerned that he will have this surgery. Very concerned.
My contention is not predicated on predicting a questionable guy like Clyburn and a gimp like Bowers will be Pro Bowlers. Suh and Vanden Bosch are already there.
Looking at the future, you have nothing to base that the Bucs will be better, other than all teams hope their draft picks are All-Pros.

I never proclaimed them a success. All I said was they(McCoy, Bowers, and Clayborn) will be feared more than Suh and Fairley. That is of course if they live up to their potential and that includes Fairley too. Had I remembered Price, I would have mentioned him too. Bowers has surgery on a torn meniscus that doctors have already cleared to 100%. NFL teams are scared of him re injuring that knee and him not being worth top 10 money. That is why he fell. They fear if he re injures it, he will be done in 4-5 years. You said he WILL have to have surgery on it. Only, like every person on the planet, he re injures it.
Call anyone in the NFL and ask them who they would fear more, Suh and Fairley vs McCoy, Bowers, and Clayborn, if everyone lives up to potential. They would all say the Bucs because that is 3 guys they have to scheme around then 2. I have no idea why that is so hard for you all to figure out.
How come you don't mention Cliff Avril and VandenBosch? Those guys don't suck. I'll take the Lions.
