They probably gave you hell because you didn't know what you wanted, took too long to order and asked them to repeat themselves 3 or 4 times.

Rude. I've been there probably 5 times in my life and last year after a Chiefs game was the last time I told myself I'd go there. To me the food can be inconsistent there and the people working just weren't pleasant.

Apparently. I've only been to Gates once so I can't speak much for it. Every time I've been to Jack Stack, I've loved it, but I do also know its a little fancier.
I just could deal without the people and the attitudes. I think the restaurant's cleanliness could scare away some people.
I'm not too nice for it because I love hole in the wall crap hole restaurants but its just not my cup of tea.

Anyway. I like Jack Stack. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a big difference between the original Jack Stack and the rest. The original in Martin City is not fancy at all.

I agree with you -- I lived about a mile from the Arthur Bryant's on 18th and Brooklyn and think they may pick out certain people to give their poorer quality meat to (i.e people who look like they're from IA).

I haven't been to all of them but I'd have to say what's best depends on whether you want brisket, ribs, burnt ends, chicken, pulled pork, etc. It's hard to say which one is the best. Depends on what you like for sauces too. Personally I like Gates sauce, ribs, and burnt ends, Ok Joes sandwiches, and Jack Stack's chicken. I usually won't go to Gate's or Bryants if I don't want to get yelled at...
