Go Cyclones - Sims excited for first Division I game

I'm really looking forward to seeing what Sims brings to a spot that has sorely missed talent since 2005.

Two things that make me excited to see him under the lights on Thursday

“We just have to swarm the ball and punish the receiver,” Sims said.
And

Ash said Sims’ best attributes are his speed — he has been clocked at a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash — and his ability to hit.

Talked to Sims for about 15 minutes after practice a while back since we are from the same town.... Great kid! built like a rock, he's going to be a special one for us!

i hope he not only punishes WRs, but he kills everybody!!

with him and Banks at the safety spots I think we will be ok. I also like seeing Money climbing the depth chart.

Banks started last year at CB and broke his arm in the first game against SDSU. He is back as starting CB this year with LJ.

Sims and Smith will play safeties.

Yes, I realize most uninformed posters like to trash Smith. But Smith made honorable mention all Big 12 as voted by the other coaches, who might know a little something about FB.

Bottom line, Sims -- Smith -- LJ -- Banks, one bad arse backfield. Sims and Banks like to bring the wood!!

I'm excited for Sims and hope he's adjusting to Ames well.....that had to be rough to show up to OU's campus thinking you're a Sooner, only to be told you had to leave shortly after......ouch. Regardless, now he's a Cyclone and I hope he achieves his goals here.

LJ looks like he can bring the wood too.

I am confident that if our defensive line can give us any sort of consistent pass rush, then this years secondary could be just as good, if not better then the secondary we saw a few years back with Paris, Moser, Hobbs & D. Jackson.

That's saying something. Hope you're right.

We would need a 2005-level pass rush to make that happen.

I am hoping Sims turns in to the desperately needed "eraser" on defense.

It sounds like Sims is 'swimming' a little bit here...look for the classic juco transfer type situation where the light goes on about mid-way through the season. Look out next year!

From talked to him the other day, he seemed to be adjusting really well. I imagine the only reason he hasnt created more seperation on the depth chart is because hes been banged up.
