We had to vote on each of the 11 counts separately. One juror had some questions on one of the counts. We reviewed a few documents and he was satisfied. Total deliberation time less than half an hour. I think we spent more time eating the lunch they provided
How do 2 wealthy DM business people give that guy any $$ based on his past? Had to be legacy $$ since anyone that actually earned it wouldn’t consider getting anyway near that guy.

The 2 Des Moines guys were fully aware of Marty's past conviction for basically the same thing. Marty promised them easy money and gave them back their principal and profits early on. All the money he paid back from completed deals was from money collected for futute deals, many times from the same person. Marty would occasionally buy tickets that the victims would use. There was mention of granddaughters going to a Taylor Swift concert and there were a few sporting events victims attended

Sounds like they may have been in on it to.

The victims sent Marty money to buy tickets to resell at a profit. Of the $8 million the 3 victims sent him from Feb 24 to Jan 25 less than $400,000 was used to purchase tickets, many used by Marty himself or given to his investors.

There was no evidence of any proceeds from sale of tickets. Most of the money received was sent back to investors as aledged profits from previous deals or transferred from Martys business account to his personal account

I was unaware Marty had a online radio show on the Sportsbyline network. It appeared he spent around $500,000 to Sportsbyline and received around $300,000 in revenue. Geico, Rocket Mortgage, and HyVee were mentioned as his advertisers. In Jan 25 when things started falling apart he told his investors he had a huge super bowl deal with Geico

The only thing the victims are guilty of was being Marty's buddy and being greedy of the promise of making easy money
