Ouch. Penn State 2027 Recruiting Decline?

Mouser didn’t make the call?
Mouser is his OC now. You think MC gets a pass in happy valley for a call like that when it backfires?

The one against Iowa was with a couple minutes left and would have given Iowa a short field and a chance to go win the game. If his kicker hadn’t banged in a long field goal Iowa most likely wins that game and CMC looks like an idiot. Having a kicker who could make long FGs really ****** with the play calling across midfield last season.

Zero doubt that Konrardy is a huge weapon. That's one thing that has me optimistic about this year. If you get across the 50, you at least have a fairly automatic 3. Obviously, that is going to influence your playcalling and you can probably be more aggressive knowing if you don't connect, you can at least count on the K.

That's also a big reason why we lost 4 in a row mid season when Kyle was hurt.

Campbell is no longer a darling of the sports media.
CBS ranked Campbell higher in their coaches power rankings while he was at Iowa State than now at Penn State. He dropped six places, (10th to 16th).
Penn State fans certainly will be comforted to know that CBS ranks the former coach PSU fired, James Franklin, three places higher (13th) than the one who replaced him, Matt Campbell.

Interesting but a silly list, for example DeBoer gained one spot from last year, and is #8 on the list after back to back 4 loss seasons at Alabama. Campbell drops 6 spots after moving from ISU to Penn. State while Franklin also dropped six spots after a 7-5 season which cost him his job.
So are we measuring them on how they did last season, or what, but not taking into account coaches that were fired or moved up to a better job? At least they got the top three correct.

It works well when you have a good linebacker corp. Our LBers were our weakest position group for the last several years. Not much after Vance graduated. We did well against some blocking teams but man blocking teams we struggled.

Are there still medical redshirts or are they gone? Campbell had one 6th year player he took and I wonder if the 5 for 5 may give a few of the players he took to help with culture have another year and that’s not really what Campbell wants.
It still pisses me off what the S&C staff did to Mike Rose…

Campbell is going to have to use the transfer portal more than he did here. Development of players is not really going to be too much of a thing at Penn State for him. Having 35 million to spend on transfers does help though. But man it’s going to be interesting to see how Matt handles the PSU Media and fans. He would get so butt hurt over the tiniest things here, example the “hot seat guy”. And has gotten testy with some reporters that asked half way hard questions. If and when the pressure builds on him there he may lose his damn mind.
