Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

I'll rephrase it. Nebraska tied for 2nd in the Big 10 in Mens Basketball, 3rd in Wrestling, 2nd in Baseball, 1st in Volleyball, 1st in Softball. You make it sound like the Big 10 is above Nebraska. Nebraska was one of only 3 schools to qualify for the post season in all 6 major sports and the only Big 10 team to do it. I'm not a Nebraska fan but I would take them back in the conference.
That’s fair, the big ten isn’t ever a baseball conference for the weather so good to have some rep.

Also in big ten land hockey is a much more major sport then softball or wrestling. But I get Iowa peeps love their wrestling.

At the end of the day it’s about the big 3/4 sports as well as academics and Nebraska is just a constant disappointment in football and really doesn’t fit in culturally.

Don’t think you would see anyone really disappointed if they left and people are just regularly annoyed by their antics. Hopefully their basketball program continues to do well

I don’t think Fox is disappointed in Nebraskas tv ratings. Wonder the past 10 years which one has been a bigger disappointment performance wise, Nebraska or Michigan Stare in football? What do you say?

Checked AI and it stated Big 10 wrestling consistently outperforms Big 10 hockey for viewership on the BTN network.

Oh that’s easily Nebraska, no double digit win seasons, no big ten titles. Just pure mediocrity.

Sparty has some disaster seasons in there (so does NU) but has a big ten title, a 10, 11, and 12 win season in there.

That being said Sparty football is a dumpster fire currently

last 10 seasons Sparty football has had no 12 win season and no conference titles.
Big 10 record last 10 seasons:
Nebby 32-57
Soarty 35-53 Sparty had one less game due to Covid
I do agree that currently sparty is a dumpster fire.

I was going to the 2015 season with the 12 wins and title that year.

Also win total for sparty might even be less then that as a bunch of games were vacated

Not a single person would be sad to see Nebraska leave, that would honestly be so incredible for the conference
I have a good friend in the Pittsburgh area, an iowa state guy, they (business leaders, etc) wanted Pitt to get in versus Nebraska. The Penn State people didn't want Pitt and this was before people understood household counts and market share related to cable. They wanted national championships! Lol.

The Gazette had an article which stated their disappointment, and I remember the quote of something like "the big ten is going to bring in a lower rated university than Iowa."

We all know the ratings thing gets overblown, but we still laugh about this to this day. The elitism of the East looking at the Midwest was on great display.

Not to be negative Ned but is there a concern that some Big 12 teams go to the ACC if the Protect College Sports Act is passed with pooling of media rights and Big 10 or SEC don't expand? The ACC has brands, the Big 12 does not. Teams want to be in a conference with brands. The ACC brands want to leave to get more revenue. But with pooling, don't see why they would want to leave.

Could see the ACC thinking big with Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, West Virginia, Texas Tech, Kansas, and Cincy.

The ACC historically has been up there with Big10 on being academic snobs when considering membership. With Louisville & Clemson one could question if that's still valid. But I'm skeptical they would add WVU, Cincy or TT.

There is 0% chance if PCSA is passed that pooling would be mandatory. AND the ACC brands will jump to Big 10 and SEC before legislation is passed. Pooling wouldn't mean equal sharing. So still more money to be made as Big 10 or SEC school.

Current version of proposed PCSA has anti-expansion language for ACC and B12 in addition to B10 and SEC.

This thought comes from the media getting in your head.
