Who reported it? Someone with an axe to grind? What they said the Beckmann coach did seems like nothing. He didn’t say anything bad in the one text and asked the parents to take a couple players to a game.

That information will never be released to the public, they do this to encourage people to come forward when they see something, but why go after the guy if that is all they found? That letter in his file will be with him for the rest of his career and for many schools would be a deal breaker for a district to hire him. Which if he did nothing wrong, he should sue the crap out of the BOEE to get it removed and a statement issued that he did nothing wrong.Who reported it? Someone with an axe to grind?
It almost sounds like the way North Linn school board covered it up, probably violated open meetings and laws governing minutes. Surprised Iowa Freedom of Information council hasn’t got involved. That information will never be released to the public, they do this to encourage people to come forward when they see something, but why go after the guy if that is all they found? Most personal decisions would be made in a closed session, which is legal, not sure if they voted on what to do, or he just resigned ahead of it. Freedom of Information is so far behind in cases they will never get caught up, which is just what the right wants, for their decisions to never see the light of day.It almost sounds like the way North Linn school board covered it up, probably violated open meetings and laws governing minutes. But they can’t vote on personnel decisions in closed session which is what it sounds like here. Most personal decisions would be made in a closed session, which is legal, not sure if they voted on what to do, or he just resigned ahead of it. They have the discussion in closed session and then come back out, and on the record have the vote, which has to be part of the public record. But there is no discussion in the open session. But they can’t vote on personnel decisions in closed session which is what it sounds like here.
Exactly. They won’t hold the discussion in open session. But it doesn’t sound like they made their decision in open session, according to the story. It almost sounds like they made their decision also in closed session and decided not to record the resignation in the minutes. If that is the case, that is illegal. They have the discussion in closed session and then come back out, and on the record have the vote, which has to be part of the public record. So any dirt on the person would have been discussed in the close session, they just do not want that to get out to the public.
I would think the resignation would have to be in the schools finances when they are published in the paper every month and the vote to accept the resignation.Exactly. They won’t hold the discussion in open session. But it doesn’t sound like they made their decision in open session, according to the story. Ummm I thought Texas Tech would say he has a disease, get him rehab and get him back teaching. You know because Tech cares. Must have to be a good quarterback to get that treatment.
BTW anyone hear any rumblings about why the Des Moines Lincoln coach got fired? Hearing some student type deal was happening
