Big XII options for sanctioning Texas Tech

They thought he would never get the injunction and had no plan when he did. Thats the only way this makes sense.
I don't think so. The tell was getting a local judge to rule that the NCAA could not penalize Tech for letting Sorsby play. They were behind it all. Tech legitimately thought that since the NCAA had thrown in the towel immediately after the last couple player related court decisions, that it would be the case for them as well, and given they had put all their chips on Sorsby in the portal, as long as the player initiated the proceedings they wouldn't take a PR hit for "supporting" him.

Good call TT. Lol.

.
My Tech coworker hopes this is the demise of the Big 12. Tried really hard to explain why what Sorsby did would not impact the integrity of the game if he played again. "But he was only betting on his team, that's different!"

Where exactly do these tech fans think they're going?

The one thing that unifies the big 12 is that no one has better options. If an offer existed from the big 10 or SEC they would have taken it years ago.

Well, look at that - the Fighting Tacos made themselves out to be the new Longwhorns of the conference over what amounted to nothing.

You might think there will be some long lasting impacts, but they've got a billionaire willing to prop up their program. Money always wins in the long run.

Sorsby is the first college football player to receive an NIL for coming and one to get him out of there.

Well the good news is Tech is comitted to making sure Brendan gets the help he needs to overcome his gambling addicition.

Also in things I predict will ultimately happen:

Will an NFL team even waste their time with this guy? I can't imagine many organizations would be interested in this mess!

The longhorns without the money and influence though. So not really.

I think it's a great comparison - spending all that money... acting like entitled brats because they spent all that money... and then not showing up whatsoever when it matters - that's about as Longhorn as it gets.

The longhorns got special treatment. Had this been Texas in the big 12, Sorseby would be playing and the other teams would be paying for his treatment somehow.

Absolutely they will. He had some projections saying he could be a 1st round pick next year - or even the #1 pick if he had a big year with Tech. There are so many teams out there that need a QB, they will take a flyer on him with a lower round pick in the supplemental draft. What will be interesting is to see if anyone is willing to use a 1st or 2nd round pick in the supplemental draft (and thus forfeit that pick in next years draft). I think that is the bigger question.

Something about Texas schools. Lived here a long time. They are arrogant, don't like each other, and have near zero conference pride. I guess the attitude harkens back to the Southwest Conference where they were always cheating and stabbing each other in the back. The Big 8 schools were always cordial with each other.

This past week or so has definitely revealed Tech fans to be the stupidest people on the planet. Just biblical levels of delusion throughout this entire saga.

"He didn't do anything that bad." He bet on his own team. There's really no sin more cardinal than that in sports.

"This is a very complicated situation." No, it's not. The proper outcome in this case was always crystal clear to literally anyone except people with one or fewer brain cells or TT supporters (not saying those are mutually exclusive).

"Tech hasn't said that they're going to play him. They're just focused on supporting him in his recovery." They appealed to the NCAA to get him reinstated. And they're more than content to cut him loose to go to the supplemental draft now that they don't see a viable path to play him without serious consequences. Actions>lack of words.

"Texas had two players get caught gambling, why did no one care about that?" Neither bet on Texas football nor did they place anywhere near the volume of bets and stakes as Sorsby, and at least one isn't even with the program anymore.

"They're only making a big deal about it because Texas Tech is a threat to the natural order of CFB." Even if there's some level of truth to this, it doesn't make the rest of the world wrong. Being right for the wrong reasons is still being right.

"We'll just go to another conference, then." Every conference that would be a step up from the Big 12 is already lining up refusing to play you. Where the **** do you think you're going to go?

I put it at about 95% chance no NFL team will take a chance on Sorsby. That roughly means ALL 32 NFL teams statistically will not take mim atleast 3x. So, the odds are really 100% no NFL for Brendan.

Tech really helped Sorsby and themselves in all of this. LOL
