PETERSON: Gambling headlines aren’t what nationally irrelevant Big 12 football needs

I have no "blanket dislike" for what Randy has produced over the years.

In this case, I'm not sure I can grasp his point. Tech is trying to $pend its way into contention, a key player might be sidelined, so its potential to win a CFP is kaput and it clouds the entire perception of the Big12, because apparently there's no chance any other program might be able to make a breakthrough. Or, Tech might be fine anyway and still advance a long way. We don't know yet.

The scattered-ness of what I wrote above demonstrates how confused I am about what he's attempting to convey.

Every other Big 10 and SEC team is also trying to “spend its way into contention”. Are they nationally irrelevant too?

Trying to understand Randy’s point other than the Big 12 is at a disadvantage which literally everyone on this site knows.

An outside source's reaction was that the SEC/Big 10 is feeling pressure from TT and somehow this individual was targeted out of the masses of college age athlete's doing the same thing. Who knows. As long as the Big 12 keeps national eyes during the basketball season, irrelevant is an exaggeration. TCU did the Big 12 dirty in football which will be a hill to climb.

Thought this was a good take from Heartland Sports

If this dude plays a single snap for Tech then its time to burn everything down.

Headed for the sup. NFL draft, it will be interesting to see what round he will go in. For a team like the Jets with multiple extra picks in the 2027 draft, he might be well worth a 2nd round selection. They have three 1st round picks and 3 six round picks as well as one pick in rounds, two , three, four and five. No 7th round pick.

Not to derail the thread, but the Jets will find a way to blow those picks because well…. it’s the Jets

Well the Jets haven't been a model franchise to say the least, but things do change. Hell the Chiefs royally sucked for about 30 years, then changed it around slowly with the right hires and the change in the front office. As a Chiefs fan from about 1978 to 2010 was not a fun time to be a fan. Look at the 1983 draft, 3 HOF QBs, the chiefs could have had any of them other than Elway, Marino, Kelly, good QBs like Eason or O'Brian, and who did the KC Chiefs take, a guy who would turn out to be a very college football broadcaster in Todd Blackledge, but a horrible NFL QB, as the 2nd QB taken in the draft.
