Milan Momcilovic tweets "entering NBA draft and portal"

I think that ship has sailed, and even if we did have a little, he could make a lot more at another school.
I am very cautiously optimistic about Milan possibly finishing his career as a cyclone.
The news of kiss going to Vegas made me dream of a scenario where iowa state told him to because they are getting Milan back!

Half the guys in the NBA right now are 'O'le defenders, they couldn't defend their way out of a wet paper bag. Milan will do just fine in that regard. My only NBA concern for him is ball-handling, if you're a 6'8" wing in the NBA you are going to need to be able to dribble and pass well, and I'm not convinced Milan currently has those skills at a pro ball level.
Other than Harden, and maybe Brunson, there isn’t a guy still playing in the conference finals that isn’t a better defender than Milan. Every 2,3, and 4 on all the remaining teams are better defenders.

I think you're sorely underestimating how hard it is to defend in the NBA especially compared to college.

There is no money. This is not happening

Comments like that make you look ignorant. Tell me you don’t know about basketball without telling me you don’t know about basketball.

This argument is as lazy as defense used to be in the NBA in the 1970s.

What's very funny imo is there's similar trends in the NFL and MLB.

It isn't 'ol'e' or whatever but the intensity and tempo etc is night and day in the regular season vs. playoffs and maybe also the last month of NFL when the run games and defense crank it up a notch for playoff caliber squads.

I’m not sure it is. There a finite number of years for a basketball career - it’s not like he could stay in college longer and retire at 65 instead of 62. There’s also the factor that, due to age, he becomes less desirable for an NBA team every year that he waits.

The fiscally conservative choice is almost certainly to spend 2 more years in college the never have to work again, but it seems like he has a smart team and they are weighing options carefully.
Lol, what? Why are you comparing this to 60 year olds?

We’re talking about proving yourself in the NBA at 22 or 23, rather than 21

The post I responded to was absolutely a false dichotomy. It’s not a case in which it is either return to school, or NBA 10 year career.

He’s clearly hoping he can get guaranteed money in the nba starting next year, wiling to accept a lower career EV to a certain point

Harvard, Stanford, Northwestern, SMU, etc. have lots of money and don't excell in FB or BB. In defense of Stanford, they have an excellent, overall Athletic program.

I'm trying to figure out if comments like this are a conversation about something other than College athletics or a slam on our American culture of "greed and me"?
I was responding to the person who said Americans are the greediest of all. We definitely are a “ me” society.

He's not totally wrong. I watched the 4th quarter of the Knicks/Cavs last night. Eastern Conf Finals. The defense was a joke.

I am sure that if a few mega donors found $5 million dollars to make this happen there would be a great chance he would come back. I am skeptical this is going to happen. If something like that was in the works I would think we would have heard about it by now.

Don't know what to even think anymore. MM will retire with more money than he can spend in 5 lifetimes. What difference does a few million make long term when he can he start earlier in an NBA career? He will learn and progress faster as a pro than in college. He probably already has a few $MM in the bank right now anyway. Can't let flat out greed rule your life. If he has a sibling in an oncology ward, then I can relate to wanting more money; otherwise, go fulfill your childhood dream.

Only if he makes it into the league and has a 8 to 10 year career. I just think if he was my kid, I would be telling him why chance it, and take the sure thing and the $3 to $5 million that is being reported for returning. Lots be people think he is a sure fire NBA player, but the experts, the scouts are telling us otherwise. It's his life, he can decide, not coming back to ISU either way, so I really do not care.

I would think it would take offensive skills to get out of a wet paper bag. Someone with defensive skills would just sit in the bag and dare you to try and get them out! ;)

I especially liked the bit in the final two minutes when all five Cavs players on the floor watched the Knicks player dribble to the basket for a layup without anyone within ten feet of him. Knicks broke that team last night.

Thank goodness people like Dickson Jensen don't think like the negative nannies here. He is a big part of our top10 women's golf team and top 35 (??) Men's golf team
