Donovan Davis announced on May 6th that he committed to the Cyclones!!!

I recall also Sports Illustrated (I think it was) named HB its preseason POY before he even stepped on campus or suited up his freshman year in Chapel Hill. I think he ended up being honorable mention all ACC that year.
Certainly not the consensus AA he was predicted to be as freshman, but he was ACC Rookie of the Year and on the 2nd Team All ACC his freshman year. Mid-February through the Elite 8 he was really good, which carried over to his Soph season.

Came here to see updates about Davis only to find discussions about Barnes. To get this back somewhat on track, I'm excited for Davis to announce tomorrow night. And the 2027 class has the potential to be the best high school class in ISU history with Davis, Harrington, and if we can land Baboucarr. All three are currently in the top 65 nationally. Let's go!!!
It's only a matter of time before TJ gets us a Final Four berth--at a minimum. He's literally turned ISU into one of the top 10 programs in the country in just 5 years time. Absolutely amazing. I'll always have a special place in my heart for Johnny Orr, but TJ is already the most successful basketball coach in school history, and it sure seems like he's just getting started.

I think over half these guys changed it the same day of Vaughn's announcement. They had Iowa State for a long time until Matt Abdelmassih tweeted something that day negatively of ISU's chances. Credit to the Minnesota guy for sticking to his prediction. View attachment 170834
I bet the Minnesota guy just had other plans that day :).

They should have a Variance score as well as accuracy.

Variance Index = (total number of players only a single crystal ball prediction)/(total number of players with any number of crystal ball predictions).

Maybe add a way to measure folks that are the first to predict versus those who wait for the consensus. Call it a "Follow the Crowd Index"

Obviously this is all just 100% entertainment. I think my variance score would enhance the entertainment value of it.

The perfect predictor would have 100% accuracy, 100% Variance Index and the lowest possible "Follow the Crowd Index".

The confidence meter, which is I think their version of a crystal ball, jumped another 9% on On3. It’s nearly 90% now. Hoping this really happens in snagging another really good recruit. It would be one of the best classes ever paired with the class coming in this year that’s right at 17th nationally. Good days are ahead my friends!

I'll never understand how a highschooler's decision on anything became a media event. Maybe I'm getting old.
Yeah it doesn't make sense but this isn't anything new. We're coming up on nearly 20 years of Harrison Barnes media announcement and that type of announcement wasn't "new" then.

Geezer here.

My old man used to complain about sports broadcasts way back in the 70's, and I once told him that if he didn't like it, he shouldn't patronize the sponsors. It made him furious. Teenage Smartitude used to do that. Now it is a moneymaker. I guess I missed my calling or was born too soon.

Bottom line: if nobody paid attention, and there was no money to be made from such folderol, the money changers in the Temple would find a different folderol to promote,

And so it goes.

Myself, I wish the kid well, no matter what he decides.

You wrote this like you are 273 years old. Was that in Kings English or Yiddish?
