There's a Ballard Creek that runs through Huxley and crosses under I-35.

Highland and Lone Tree joining together (right back where they were 20 years ago) in order to have a varsity slate this fall.

So if a kid wants to go elsewhere and play varsity if a school is doing JV only can they do so without changing schools? Like could one of these EHK kids go to Atlantic or ACGC?

I imagine the schools would have to have a cooperative agreement.

Yep. Can’t unless the schools agrees to share. Many small ones won’t so they don’t get moved up a class

weren't there like 10 state records at the Drake Relays this year? The times these kids run is insane - especially in April in Iowa!!!

Heck I was at a middle school track meet last week and I couldn’t believe some of the times.

Van Buren County had runner do 1:52 in the 800 at Drake. That is incredible. However I’ve watched the same kid out running when it’s below zero in the winter, so not surprised.

I just finished up a soccer game in Marshalltown in misting rain freezing my behind off. I got sunburned on Saturday.

Who is coaching the VB boys these days? Is Pratt still helping?

Mike Bainbridge is the head boys coach. His boy Lincoln is the 800 runner. Pratt I think still helps the girls. Also helps the cross country I think. He has been very valuable to the track and cc programs. Lucinda I think coaches the girls. Van Buren County has never won a relay in boys. That might change this year. Van Buren County has ebbed and flowed on track. Now both boys and girls are doing very well.
