We are 23 games into a 162 game season. You don’t move your all-star gold glover to the minor leagues because he’s off to a slow offensive start. He’s hitting .225, not great but mot some horrendous start either. Can’t believe someone is actually suggesting that.
Well look at who suggested it and you won't be surprised who is hitting the red button

Hindsight but next time in this situation. They need to double switch Bregman into the lineup (3B) rather than letting Kingery play third.
I texted that to a buddy right before Kingery’s first error. Glad it ended up not mattering but yeah.. doubt we see Bregman at DH much more this year, or maybe just live with Shaw taking the at bat instead of getting pinch hit for after how bad that could’ve been.

It does not matter how bad PCA's bat is, his glove is that good that they won't send him down. He is still a positive WAR player with his glove. Just not how it works regardless of the optics of the contract.

Alcantara may be off to a good start, but he is a worse fielder and there is no guarantee his bat would be any better than PCA right now.

Fun to watch right now. Kingery should never play defense again. No need with shaw and bregman on the team. That was odd. I loved pca's bunt. Tough team to defend with the mix of speed and power. Also loved all the walk's.

I know it’s way early to be watching the standings but my goodness does anyone in this division ever lose?
Give it a month, the Cardinals will be firmly in last place by then and the Pirates will likely have cooled off too. Probably Cubs, Brewers, and Reds going to battle it out for awhile. Cubs have the most talented roster of the 3 so hopefully we start getting some pitching healthy and some more bats get hot and we'll be fine.

Should Kingery be on the roster if he can't play defense?

Yeah Wild to suggest PCA to be sent down even if he hits around .200. He is the Best defensive CF in the league. He will continue to hit 8th or 9th until he starts hitting. If he hits around .240 with 20+ homers that is huge for the lineup. He needs to cut down on swinging at everything.

I think the Reds will stick around too but man, have they been living off some voodoo so far this year.

The Reds are a paper tiger. Their underlying metrics are a disaster that they're overperforming at nearly the 90th percentile. They're going to fall and fall hard.

I actually think the Cubs get to 95ish wins and have the division wrapped up with 10 or so games to play. I think this roster is really good.

I don't think 95 wins take the division. Its gonna be 98+ to clinch.

I have to think some of PCA's issues go back to missing Spring for the WBC. Just didn't have a chance to get his timing right against inferior pitching.

It's early it will come down how play against your in division teams. Also it helps the Cubs that are going to be done with a team like the Phillies tomorrow that are suppose to be competing for a playoff spot and at worst you will go 4-3 vs them. Playing the Phillies and Mets while they are both on losing streaks is super nice. Can't win the division in April but you can lose it.

I don't disagree with your assessment but when you give a player of his age a big contract like that you also have to factor in the optics not only for his mental well being but why would you commit that kind of money to a guy you demoted to AAA. He won a glove glove in CF last season too so for as much as he has struggled at the plate he's still valuable in the field. You have to hope the staff can get him out of his funk at the plate.
You just go to him and say are you ok where you’re at? Let’s do a deep dive and get you back to where we know you should be
