WBB: 2026 Transfer Portal

What short, average speed mid major player with Midwestern ties that we settled on is it?
Lol well she's borderline Midwestern. Depends how you view the state. I wouldn't say she's short. Her production was good but granted it was a lower level of competition. No idea on her speed. It appears she's pretty good defensively.

This May Not Be Accurate?

This all matches up with Ashleigh Connor (from a Pittsburgh suburb, 5'11" G, led LaSalle in points and assists the past two seasons, 2nd in rebounding, 2.0 steals per game).

It has to be $$$$ because why else would you go to Oklahoma State. Don't see them as a power house with a deep drive in the Big dance and it is Oklahoma.
Not saying I blame them. I might do the same if I were in their shoes. But yeah, for a player like this who probably had her pick of blueblood programs she could've gone to and challenged for a Natty, it looks like she took the biggest bag and ain't looking back.

WNBA money isn't life-changing generational wealth like it is in the NBA. I think you'll see a lot of WBB players going where the money is even if it's not necessarily also where the player development or the winning or any other particular thing is.

That changed a lot this year with the new CBA. It's not the NBA, but minimum salary went up from 70k to 300k. Bridget Carleton just signed a contract that will pay her around $3.7m over 3 years.

That's way better for sure, and I don't have a good sense of what NCAA WBB players are getting paid, but I'm not sure it's a huge movement on wealth for the WNBA. Basically they're going from "this is not even a living wage" to "this can work".

NBA median salary last year was $6.6m and the veteran minimum is $3.6m. Assume that same ratio for the WNBA and it's $300k*6.6/3.6 = $550,000. Then consider most of the teams are in big markets (high costs of living). $550k is a princely sum in say Des Moines but in NYC or LA or DC, that's good money still, you can live comfortably, but you're not rich.

Jennie and OU are killing the portal. Picked up Parks from KU and Spieser from KSU.

Very envious. Meanwhile, we are picking up players who played sparingly and can score sparingly. Wooohooooo.

Thank Bill’s stubbornness for that. This was always how it was going to end- so now we get at least 2 complete rebuilds- This year and next year with a (presumably) new coach

Really, this year isn't even a "rebuild". Rebuild implies that something long term is being built. What high schoolers/underclass transfers are going to commit to this mess? 26-27 is treading water, and hopefully a "rebuild" starts with a new coach in 27-28.
