I believe Kane took his spot.It was Richard Amardi from Indian Hill I believe. Was committed here, then we booted him to make room for someone else. Don't remember who. Darien Williams maybe?

Good call. I forgot about Amardi. It was Richard Amardi from Indian Hill I believe. Was committed here, then we booted him to make room for someone else. Don't remember who. Darien Williams maybe?

Definitely turned out for the best to get Kane. That was it. We did get kane. We really needed a guard. I think we were doing the "Take the best available" then we were able to get kane. Thank Goodness.
Looking back….. that was a huge mistake, but Otz was probably afraid he might get stolen away if was back in HS. Either way he did develop much, if at all during his time here. I didn’t see a single minute of his play this year , so I don’t know if he’s a BIG 12 type center or not….guess we’ll see first hand. I’m sure he’ll have a career in a single game against usRock is kinda a wild card. He and Omaha were universally high ranked guys that didn’t come close to their expectations.
Omaha is imho an incredible athlete that got exposed at the next level for his lack of basketball talent when playing guys closer to his physical ability.
Rock…we maybe should have left him at home to grow and develop another year even if his competition level was low. Just physical and emotional maturity would have been good to have an extra year before coming to college.
I’m not a great example, but at 6’5” I know my Fr year at Iowa State vs my SR at HS I was way more coordinated and much more capable on the court. Those 12 months made a lot of difference.
That’s very well said. And, if you think about it, it’s why Otz may be here a long time. I’m no sure he fits at a blue blood with entitled 5 stars walking around…“I’m not looking for the best players, Craig. I’m looking for the right ones.”
Not everyone can play under Otz’s system and demanding work regime. And if money is your primary motivation, you’ll never play for Otz
What I’m saying is the guys Otz brings in are stereotypically “play with a chip on your shoulder” guys. Compare that to a five star guy where everything has come easy to him and so much has been given to him. No, not all are entitled. But they’re not all buying into MMA and puke on the soccer field either. You realize like every successful program does that stuff, right?
It isn't some secret deal that TJ unlocked and, believe it or not, elite athletes are pretty damn driven people that thrive in the situations.
I think the depth, skill, & experience level of the roster additions were so Toure played similar if not slightly less minutes per game. Spread out the minutes & limit the wear & tear. This way all players will be able to play at max effort while on the floor while also lowering the mileage to avoid injury. We've had stretches (last season was our shortest) over the past couple seasons where we hit a wall. Thinking this may be a new strategy to address this. Totally spitballing hereIf Toure has the season he showed flashes of, he's going to play 35+ a game.
That is probably the biggest question for next year. If he's inconsistent again, without Tamin to help, we are not going to be a top 4 seed come March 2027. If he takes that next step, we have a chance to be just as good in the aggregate.
He didn’t look that good at New Mexico but the fans loved him. I can’t imagine he will do much at KState but he is chasing a bag as he doesn’t have a professional future so can’t blame himLooking back….. that was a huge mistake, but Otz was probably afraid he might get stolen away if was back in HS. Everyone’s doing MMA?That part I agree with. I think he certainly runs 'regular' practices at a higher pace than a lot of places but his off-season stuff isn't any different than what you'd see at any Top 100 type program.
Houston's pre-season training is supposed to be very tough as well. You realize like every successful program does that stuff, right?

Either Toure or Johnson will have to be on the court, Batemon isn't a PG. Prather may spell them depending on how good of a PG he was last year.I think the 3 guards will get plenty of minutes, but you can't put all 3 of them in the starting lineup when one of them is 5'9-5'11. Batemon is a good rebounder for his size but he's still too thin to be a Big 12 SF. I think it has to be:
Toure
Batemon
Bond
Singleton
Buchanan
They’ve also conveniently forgotten that they finished 9th in the B18 last year.Kind of funny how Iowa fans are mocking ISU fans for not having the #1 portal class anymore when the 2 teams above them are 1. Duke; and 2. Michigan (the team that just won the title).
FTR, Iowa isn't even in the top 25.
