RTT...20-20 hindsight.

I don't remember that but when Chars closed for good the building was empty for quite awhile. I remember the Mucky Duck owner had a small place right next to Greater Iowa CU on Lincoln way where the new pool is now. Then he moved to the spot he is at. The owner is a really great guy.

Yeah, he is. We went to one of his escape rooms up on Main st, and he was there when we got out. He was a lot of fun to talk to. Lew was fascinated by the mechanics of the escape room, and in talking to the owner, found out he was a geocacher (there was a cache in the car that used to be out in front of the Mucky Duck). So they started plotting about planting some joint gadget caches. Neither has found the spare time yet!

Now that I'm thinking about it, wasn't Char's a Casey's before they lost their franchise or something? Seems to me they struggled along for a few years after the new one opened. All I remember is that their Pizza was better than Casey's. I'd call from work & order it, and it would be done about the same time I got there. Funny thing - the commute through Ames from the NE corner of campus took as long as the commute from South Duff.
Yes, Char's was a Casey's before and Char owned the Casey's. Here's a little known fact: freshman Velo worked at the Casey's owned by Char for a year in the '80s. I've been to the Mucky Duck once or twice and it's a bit weird for me with my history in the place.

You get busy in the stock room or something?

Why do I coach boys travel ball every spring and summer? WHY??

My uncle used to slow cook strips of goat meat on his grill. He would brush it down with his own special sauce. It was melt in your mouth good. Wish I could find somewhere around here that sells goat meat.
I know they marinated it the night before, in what, I don't know.

So apparently you're supposed to hide easter baskets? My coworker asked me where my mom always hid mine and I said she never hid ours and I've never heard about hiding Easter baskets and he couldn't believe it. Told my mom this and she said she never heard of such a thing either.

Well, duh………..you don’t hide them, the Easter bunny does.

We had hidden eggs and Easter candy. Baskets were used to collect the goodies.

I hid my grandnieces chocolate Easter bunnies really well. Mailed them to the wrong address. UPS Store stores the address but pulled up their old one and I didn't figure it out till they didn't get it even though it was delivered. Guess someone at their old place just ate the candy as Easter manna from heaven.

My neighbor can hook you up with a whole goat.
