I was afraid of this when Castillo entered… doesn’t hurt our ceiling but definitely hurts our floor.

Tough spot for him with Merrill coming in and he can definitely help someone.
Herrera was one of those freshmen that got to wrestle right away. I really thought he had a higher ceiling than how he performed at the NCAA tournament that year.
What I was hoping was we would see a lot out of Herrera his redshirt year so potential we could redshirt Merrill if they were the same level but this year proved what was probably going to happen all along, wish nothing but the best for peanut
He does in the future, of course. He was a boy among men. Unfortunately for him, we seriously upgraded.

I’m in the boat where I hope we never red shirt a blue chip recruit again. No guarantee that we’ll get two years out of them, let alone five. If they are good enough to start, let’s roll with them.
I agree I was thinking if they were damn near even you redshirt but Merrill showed just how good he is so yes you start him
Plus now if this whole Executive Order actually holds then redshirts won’t even matter
Merrill had Ross beat this last summer until a very very last second takedown. He's very good.
Actually it wasn’t a takedown. It was a step out which was a mental mistake by Merrill more than anything Ross did.
I still don’t buy into this guy. 8 schools in the mix for the Stanford guys seems like a lot lol
