***2026 NCAA MBB coaching carousel***

The interesting thing about UNC is that there is no one with direct ties to the program that is a good candidate. It's been nearly 70 years since they didn't have a UNC guy leading the program, the Dean Smith coaching tree has dried up, Roy doesn't have any up and coming names that coached or played for him. UNC people really liked Wes Miller a few years back but that obviously isn't going to pan out now. They have always had an obvious hire, this is a new situation for them. It's entertaining seeing them flounder.

So does the brand still being in recruits or doesn’t it? I am on the side of the blue bloodness of recruiting doesn’t work as well as it once did. Don’t remember what coach said it but it’s pretty simple now a days, how much money and how many minutes?
I think the blue bloodedness matters as deep as the account is in black.

There’s a national championship winning coach in the B10, fresh off the greatest tournament run in basketball history.

With the Heels’ NIL money, he could acquire the best players (and hair plugs) to do great things in Chapel Hill.

Now’s your moment UNC. If not now, when?

Interesting events occurring at the UofA now that Tommy Lloyd has signed his contract extension rejecting overtures from UNC.

As reported Sunday in the Arizona Daily Star, the new contract gives Lloyd more control over the financial support for his roster budget. UofA's president, Suresh Garimella will now have a more direct role in working with Lloyd on his program's finances.

This all sounded very similar to the comments made following TJ's revised contract.

Lloyd also said he wants his program to be a locomotive with everyone at the school pushing in the same direction.

In Monday's paper, it was revealed that Tommy Lloyd will report directly to UofA's president, rather than Athletic Director Desiree Reed-Francois. Obviously Lloyd and the AD did not see eye to eye. This also sounds similar to reported conflicts between TJ and Campbell vs. Pollard.

Arizona's AD has been on the job for two years, she inherited a $75M debt from the previous AD and by all accounts has eliminated it. She has been good at developing new sources of income for the athletic department, but now she may be on thin ice.

If Donovan turns them down, we’re getting close to that magical 6th choice.

I think it'll be Donnovan if he wants it. Byington if Donnovan says no. I just don't think Mccollum and North Carolina is a good match for either.

Rick Pitino and Larry Brown were the last to win NCAA titles switching from NBA to NCAA. And that was before NIL
