If UNC does the opposite of the Bill Belichick hire, don't go for the headline, and just hire a quality coach they will be successful. They still have tremendous resources.

No way I hire a guy that's been out of college basketball for a decade but that's what they're bound and determined to do.
McCollum, Byington and Schertz are all great choices that would win like crazy.
Has any of the local media stuck a microphone in front of McCollum and asked if he’d be interested?

I honestly don't even know who would ask? Gazette gutted their sports staff, KCRGs sports guys are like 12 years old, KGAN doesn't have sports guys, it would require Rick Coleman to actually work so KWWL is out. It's grim.
In southeast Iowa, two papers gutted a good sports department and a radio station went out of business. And they had one of the best sports departments in this area. It’s a desert wasteland here.
They really do not have to complicate anything. Just get a solid coach. The recruiting/$$ will take care of itself, they are North Carolina. Heck, if they were smart, stay in that geographic radius and just get a young guy with loose Tar Heel ties.

So does the brand still being in recruits or doesn’t it? I am on the side of the blue bloodness of recruiting doesn’t work as well as it once did. Don’t remember what coach said it but it’s pretty simple now a days, how much money and how many minutes?
