WBB: 2026 Transfer Portal

It will be players from small schools that want better facilities/travel/meals/grad programs and don't care about team success.
Why would anyone who enters the portal themselves…leaving another team for the first or second time worry about players leaving ISU? It’s all about opportunity.

So if you’re a player (or parent of a player) seeing an “opportunity” at Iowa State: in light of almost all the players leaving, you wouldn’t be asking questions about the team’s coaches and the team culture?
Sure you would.

Kind of the pot calling the kettle black isn’t it? Of course you ask some questions…but it’s not nearly as important anymore in the Wild West of NIL.

I just wanna recap and say this here. A preseason top 10 team who under performed most of the year, has nine of 11 players in the portal. According to most reports the top three players in the portal are from Iowa State. One of the two remaining is staying because of who she dates. But they are keeping an old outdated coach who has one year left on his contract. Now read that again and tell me that the problem does not lie with Bill Fennely. I've always respected Pollard until today. This is gross mismanagement.

Portal is not Techically Open and doing a little research there are 19 Schools with at least 5 transfers just as many with 4.

List with 5 or more transfers: Butler, Arizona, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa St, Oklahoma St, Indiana, Penn St, Purdue, Arkansas, Tennessee, Bellarmin, Montana, UC Riverside, Charleston, UNC Wilmington, Mt. St Mary's, Bethune Cookman and Evansville.

If you are leaving your employer for another, would you be concerned if that new employer just had a mass exodus of employees leaving because of issues with management?

Why? He stated facts. What else were you expecting to say?
oh maybe that he gives a crap about women's basketball and that he'll take the actions necessary to maintain a healthy program!!

Right now, we are looking at a rough year next year and much uncertainty after that all because he is loyal to CBF and wants to let Bill finish "the right way"

Just don't think that will sit well with the fanbase.

So you want him to waste resources on a buyout?

The video confirmed that the inmates are running the asylum...coaches not held accountable unless it fits Pollards narrative. No duh, we will still have a team!
I would be willing to bet Ol Bill really lawyered up (for the best of Cyclone Nation of course).

I don't know that we can afford to wait another year and make the fanbase sit thru a rough year just so he can go out the way he wants. We've got to pay coach fen anyway so why not do it now and try to get something out of this next season and something to build off of for the future?

It's the job of women's basketball to lose as little money as possible. Is it cheaper to buyout Bill Fennelly and pay a new coach at the same time or have a marginal season and then get a new coach? That's the only calculation. I think Pollard's video answers that question.

Again, the net buyout is only around $300k, and we'd likely save a big chunk of that with a new coach who would likely be cheaper than Bill.

You think the fanbase is going to turn out for a new unknown coach?

Listen I think it's long past time for Bill to retire, but this comes down to dollars and cents. Does the AD lose less money letting Bill stay another year vs forcing him out.

I think most of our Women's Basketball Fan Base shows up whether it is CBF or a new coach. Think the difference in attendance will/would be very similar.
