Because even with the disparity, we can contend for the top 4 and a trophy semi-regularly.
Also compare what Joh Jefferson was making last year compared to Rocky Elam. I’m guessing one was much more expensive

And so you’re saying Fennelly can’t find humble people that work hard? I think that’s true with some of them as their egos are a wee bit large, but others…probably most…seem to be good people. The thing TJ does is lay it out there…commit to doing things my way or don’t come.Puts together a team of humble guys who put in the work and are good people.
I’ll just say my source has first hand experience.Never trust anything that starts with “I heard…”
As employees (they are getting paid by ISU) JP would be derelict not to ask them reasons for leaving. One would assume that this has been discussed already
And how many schools even have D1 programs anymore? 40-50?Why try to remain relevant in wrestling? That’s odd. Loses lots of precious money. One program (and now maybe Okla St) dominates that sport. It’s worse than WBB…
One player was a cancer? Or the whole locker room? You can tell they weren’t interested in continuing the season by the big 12 tourney and ncaa tourney game.Good adjective. I heard a noun from someone in the know -- "a cancer."
Amen. Wrestling is much more of a “niche sport” than women’s basketball. And how many schools even have D1 programs anymore? 40-50?

TJ does his weeding out process with the words..."we start June 1 with 5:00am workouts at the soccer field" You are either committed or you aren't here and it doesn't matter who you are.
She’s pretty much guaranteed now to get some good playing time. If I were here I’d come in and show what I can do.Boy if I were Macy Comito I'd have some questions before I set foot on campus...
You do realize we were a trophy team just 2 years ago. 4th in 2024.Agreed. Wrestling lost over $2 mil in the latest fiscal year. We aren’t competitive for a national championship, and haven’t been for a long time.
If we’re talking money pits in the ISU athletic dept, wrestling is a big one, as is women’s b-ball.
Yep you only have to look over to Iowa City and see what can happen when you start spending more money on a program like they have done with their WBB team. Get the once in a generation player and then start pumping money into the program, winning brings out the fans and the donations start to roll in. Once the player that cause it all leaves, then continue to support the program with higher NIL and bring in the replacements that are higher skilled those most of the players out on the floor before. To be good in wrestling or women's basketball all you have to do is want to. Meaning be willing to spend more money than most others. It was cute and all before NIL but those days are over and until they come back we have to prioritize Football and Men's Basketball. Or drop down a level.
And less people care. You do realize we were a trophy team just 2 years ago. 4th in 2024.
Wrestling/Dresser also raises a lot of money to support the program. Wrestling loses 1/3 of what women's basketball loses each year and the coaches don't even come close to making what CBF makes combined.

So the one thing you need to do win, is the one thing ISU does not have, MONEY.
