Porn brain seems to be rotting the minds of so many people. This is definitely occurring more and more all the time.
I really do not think it's occurring any more than what it was 25 years ago, the difference is it now not being covered up and TV stations love to run stories like this. One of the dirty little secrets of education is that teachers have been sleeping with students since education started.
The difference now is the district instead of quietly getting rid of the teacher is now calling in law enforcement, instead of pushing it under the table and not talking about it.

When I worked at Cisco they bought a global load management company that made a box that would reroute your traffic to available data centers if there was an outage or regional overload.

Does not break it down, I think from personal experience that we hear about it more today than we did 25 to 35 years ago. During the old days, the school did not want the scandal, the parents wanted to protect their child and the police were never notified. Now it's completely different and when it occurs, charges are pressed and it makes the news. So we hear about it more now than ever before, that does not mean that it's happening more, just that we are hearing about it now.
Along with changes from reporting in the old days as you mentioned, from reading police and sheriff’s complaints and affidavits on teacher educators cases I think, one factor is technology really encourages it. Teens are used to sexting and the educators who are involved in this act, know this and that is a gateway that didn’t exist 25 years ago. Just my humble opinion.
Sure it's easier to contact each other now, but it's also how many of them are being caught these days. It's gone from a he said to she said to actual proof, something is going on. We will never know if the numbers are up, the number being reported are at all time highs, but that in no way means its occurring more often now than 30 years ago.
