Cabrera looks like that more often than not this year and people will forget about Caissie pretty quick. Also, I enjoy this version of Ian Happ. He can stick around for awhile
It's a contract year for Happ so maybe he has some more prolonged hot streaks this year? He's notorious for having a hot month then pretty much goes cold for long stretches at a time.

So is 5 innings three runs possible tonight. I’d consider that a win.but I guess anything under 17 is an improvement.

Gotta give it to CC. Finally figured out you don’t let Taillon work his way out. Now Jamo leave with a good feeling hopefully making him a competitive starter

Don't like the 4 walks but he threw more pitches than anyone 1st time through the rotation with 85 and gave up no runs. Cabrera by far the best start 1st time out, Horton next best then a lot left to be desired by Boyd, Shota, and Jamo. I think that sorts itself out by the time Steele is ready to return. Honestly Boyd is the one that probably concerns me the more as Jamo was our best healthy starter late in the season last year while Boyd really faded as the innings piled up. We also have Wiggins in Iowa that could potentially push the issue too if he dominates AAA although I think he would probably be on an innings limit if he does get called up and stays in Chicago for an extended period of time.

I have said it many times, having too much pitching is not a bad thing. I think Jamo is just fine as a 4th or 5th starter in the rotation. We've had years where we struggled to have 5 healthy MLB caliber starters so could do a lot worse than him. I hope we have no injuries and enough guys that are pitching so well that it is a tough decision on who to push out of the rotation but I have a gut feeling at least 1 possibly 2 guys of that group of 3 are going to get hurt or falter enough that it won't be an issue.

July rotation could be Horton Cabrera Steele Wiggins and someone we traded for.

That’s $60 mil in starters not in the rotation.

Even if he’s out of the rotation, I like the Boyd contract because he can easily come out and give 3 competitive, high level innings in October like we saw Rea do. Padres having Michael King in that role was a cheat code.

He bailed us out last year but I still wish we would’ve dumped Taillon 2 deadlines ago. He doesn’t have the stuff to come out of the bullpen and we knew his contract likely wouldnt age gracefully.

Giving Shota the QO was just a disaster of a decision. I’m guessing the FO was under the impression he would decline and he didn’t.

Yeah I am not sure why they held onto Taillon at the deadline a couple years ago when they were in sell mode unless the offers for him were just that bad. The FO has made some questionable decisions over the years on why they did not sell some players when they had the chance, but looking past 2026 they are in a very good spot financial with Bregman, Swanson, Nico, and PCA as the only position players locked up with long term deals along with a good group of young guys under team control. They have some guys with mutual options they can decline too so should have plenty of payroll to make some moves after the CBA is agreed on. Event with the recent extensions and the Bregman signing they are still in a very good spot with the payroll.

I would like to know how the Taillon contract hasn't aged gracefully.

And there is no way to call the Shota QO decision a disaster on April 1.

I would have been fine trading him, but it's not like we haven't used/needed him the last season +.

Not directed at you but the Taillon hate is comical at this point. Almost to the Happ levels, but thats a whole other animal haha.

I do not need to see Conforto again, Alcantara time!
Surprised Dylan Carlson hasn't got some at bats.

He's only 27, switch hitter with some pop to his bat. And can play every OF position.

But maybe their both short timers pending Suzuki's return.

I've been surprised as well, but still only 5 games I guess.

Have to imagine him or Conforto is gone next week when Seiya returns but I assume we'll keep one.
