WBB: 2026 Transfer Portal

If some donor would completely fund Bill's +$700K buyout, then you might have a legit argument against riding out his contract. Even then, might be difficult for JP to force Bill out if Bill truly wants to coach one more season.
If Jamie doesn't give Bill the recruiting extension will Bill just ride out next yr and tide off into the sunset?

There is absolutely no way Bil is back next year and he has zero desire to wanna come back from this. For someone who's been moderately successful he doesn't want to have his last year be two and 25. This is him and Pollard in a pissing contest over how he exits. I don't blame either side and it will be cleared up by the end of this week. It has to be for Iowa State sake. My guess is it's already decided and Pollard is negotiating with his new hire currently. Guessing he doesn't want to announce this without the new coach ready to go similar to what he did with football.

Did you just make this all up?

I wish instead of announcing a new coach immediately, they'd actually post the position and have a search. We might be surprised if a solid P4 coach would see the fan support and say I could see myself there. Of course, that could all be going on behind the scenes also with agents.

I agree that a search would be better, but the transfer portal is only open for a certain amount of time. We're going to need to have close to a complete team transfer in. We'd need to have a new coach installed as soon as possible to start pulling from the portal.

Where would they post this, LinkedIn? This is already going on behind the scenes, but it can never be public because whoever we're gonna hire is currently out of school and will affect that school. As I said earlier, my guess is they won't announce Fennely stepping down without a replacement contract already signed.

Post the position? That doesn't happen in ANY head coach hires.

Jamie has a list of people he's interested in and will reach out directly to their agent or coach themselves. He might reach out to current head coaches and see if they have recommendations.

For players wishing to enter, the transfer portal opens on April 7 and closes on April 21. Players will be signed out of the portal all Summer. We don't need to sign eight or nine players in that 15 day period. A few seasons ago K-State (or some Big XII school) signed a grad-transfer from the portal well after the next season started.

I'm basically saying give it some time between announcing Fennelly is leaving and announcing a new coach. Allow for due diligence on hiring a new coach. Plus, I believe they have to post it on the state website since it is a taxpayer supported position.

Matt Campbell was still in the building when Rogers was hired. Don't think anyone cares about posting the job.

Good Lord, it looks like Okie ST is following hard on the heels of ISU to be the most devastated program in the conference. Another player just declared (Lena Girardi) 40% 3 points shooter. Sumpuns going on down there. Can't imagine. But I think I smell a rat.

Edit: Just read an article stating that both the AD at OU &OSU had just met with various coaches informing them that spending had to be cut on women's sports. Maybe this is the problem. NIL is going to turn college sports into a Mexico environment. A few rich at the top and a bunch of poor's at the bottom.

I have neither seen nor heard anything with certainty that this is Bill’s last season coming up…
