Ben Jacobson to Utah State

Kind of surprising this is the spot after all those years, but I imagine the resources at Utah State are significantly larger, and seems to be one of the better stepping stone mid major jobs there is.
Utah State has enough $$ to actually keep some of their good players. The last few years had to be extremely frustrating at UNI. Find under the radar guys, spend all that time and effort developing them, then watch them transfer up. At least at Utah State he'll have a chance.

Nah. He is a big family guy and TJ lets him coach without having to be on the road recruiting. Also we can pay way better

I would think they would look at Crawford as a head coach. Not an Assistant. We don't pay our assistants as much as UNI could pay a head coach. If that is what Crawford is looking to become that is. Not everyone wants the duties of head coach

I don't know Jacbosens personal life. Did his kids grow older and get out of school? I am suprised he is leaving. He has had way better chances to take a job than taking a Utah State job. Not that it's a bad job. I just heard his name associated with bigger jobs like Missouri a few years ago when UNI was rolling in the MO Valley.

The youngest kid graduated HS a year or two ago, so no littles at home (I think).

Good time to move.

Ok this move makes sense then. I figured it had to do with his kids being in school and they graduated so he didn't feel the guilt of moving while his kids were in school.

Lack of resources at UNI really forced this move. It has to be frustrating to find players, develop them and when they can really help you on the floor, see them transfer out for a bigger payday. The lower leagues are nothing more than minor leagues for the major conferences and schools that have money.
Nothing wrong with moving on at his age and taking on one more challenge before hanging it up, the pay is better, Utah is a beautiful state to live in and his kids are no longer at home.

$1.3M rev share budget at UNI and he'll have over $4M at Utah State while at least doubling his salary.

I get it. He's given UNI absolutely everything and anyone trashing him on the way out is so out of touch it isn't even funny.

Replacement odds from what I've put together in the last few hours--

Tuttle-75%
KG-10%
Brooks McKowen-5%
Craig Smith-5%
Paul Jesperson-5%

It should be a quick search.

Utah State is probably the best job in the new PAC other than Gonzaga. Jake with real resources is going to absolutely kill it.

The list at UNI is pretty short. Seth Tuttle, Kyle Green, Brooks McKowen and, maybe, Craig Smith.
The Tuttle situation is fascinating. He was basically set to replace Jake but things have not gone as planned.
