***Official 2026 NCAA Tournament Thread***

Even after he made multiple final fours, there was still talk about how he could not win the big one. What is funny is the year they finally broke through, they were HUGE underdogs to UNLV. Everyone said that it was a formality that UNLV would win. That game against UNLV was one of the few times I actually rooted for Duke.
I was among people who assumed UNLV would win that.

UNLV had defeated Duke by 30 in final the previous season. So it became a "foregone conclusion" for repeat.

Sweet 16 rankings: Duke drops, Houston rises

Going from games most nights of the week, into the conference tourney week, first 4 games, and then a full weekend of the tournament; I'm going through some serious bball withdrawals.

Very interesting article about how much each of the Sweet 16 teams has spent on their programs:

Iowa State’s $9.8 million in reported expenses was last among remaining teams and ranked 72nd nationally, about the same as Memphis, Virginia Tech and Seton Hall. To put that in context, UConn spent more than that ($11.4 million) on salaries for its coaching staff last season.

At the time it was considered a big upset. But in hindsight, Duke had better players. Duke had Laettner, Hurley, Grant Hill, Thomas Hill and Billy MCcaffery. UNLV had Larry Johnson, Augmon, Hunt and Anthony. I think Grant Hill tipped the scale towards Duke compared to the year before.

And with ISU having revenue greater than St. John's, Arizona, Iowa and Houston? Where does the money go?
