Bill Fennelly

My one hope for next year is to avoid key injuries. For two years we’ve limped into February and March. I’d like to see what this team can do by staying healthy. If they don’t hit their potential healthy then there are zero excuses to be played.
I feel like injuries have been a thing for more than 2 years. Addy & AJ this year, Emily the last couple years of her career, Stephanie, MEM. Also feel like there is always a player that we hear about an injury after the season.

Soares got to ISU as damaged goods. When she was healthy watching her run the floor just looked painful. It sucked that she blew out her knee, but wasn’t all that surprising given her movement issues.

I have every expectation that Bill will be coaching for us next season, Jamie probably doesn't see the need to rock the boat any for something that will be happening next year anyway.

If next season goes like the last two, it would be a real shame for his legacy. It would look okay for the record books W-L wise, but some of those who follow the team will know they underperformed.
You mention his "legacy," but what all does his "legacy" entail? What has he ever accomplished?

On the contrary, schools can facilitate brand partnerships with third parties, and connect athletes with NIL service providers.
I’d guess ISU has less horsepower in this than other schools do.
True
But my understanding is we do not do that.
Players on their own at ISU

That isn't true, ISU's Learfield staff are attempting to facilitate true NIL deals that can get through the Clearinghouse.

Now Learfield isn't over promising deals like what Playfly is doing at LSU, Nebraska, Penn State, etc. but they are working on those deals for athletes whose marketing value is sufficient.

Since 2010 we've basically been Iowa basketball under Fran McCaffery.
I drafted a response to the previous post saying BF = KF. My go-to is that BF is FM minus the embarrassing outbursts. BF seems like a good person, FM is not.

I wouldn't use BF=KF because KF has actually won some things. As I thought about it, though, there are some parallels. BF did win some things in his career. And there's obvious nepotism going on in the program.

KF was forced to change his ways and it seems to have been to the benefit of their program...

If I'm Kenzie Hare, why would I stay? This staff has done nothing to enhance her game. I feel bad that her role is simply "stand on the wing and watch Bill's three favorite players try and maneuver the opposing team and lob it to Audi for the 79th turnover of the game"
She's not athletic enough. Great shooter but ISU needs more athletes. We need people who can guard and press if needed. We have a lot of set shot shooters but Jada is the only athlete on the team. Everyone is so slow

Hare was one of our best perimeter defenders. If we're making cuts, she stays. Her biggest issue is she was brought in to shoot, and for much of the year, she was a poor shooter.

I agree we need to upgrade athleticism, but I wouldn't use Hare as the example.

Of good lord…another one…let me help you…

yeah.. none of that is impressive. we've been to the elite 8 twice in his 31 (!!!) years. Jerome Tang also took Kansas State to the elite 8 and k state did the right thing with him. We have 1(!!!) sweet 16, in the last 16 years. we've been eliminated 3 times in the last 4 years, in the first round including back to back years, with one of the most talented rosters Bill has ever had. We got as high as AP #8 last year - lost in the first round. got as high as AP #10 this year, lost in the first round. Got as high as AP #5 four years ago, lost in the first round. He was maybe once an adequate coach - in 99, 2000, 2001 - but he's been AWFUL for the last 10+ years. It's time for Bill to go.

Thank goodness you’re not in charge.
