Said it before…we’re actually a better team without JJ.

I don’t hate JJ.

But the reality is Nate is quicker on O and D. He doesn’t turn the ball over. His quickness to the hoop means there isn’t a double team waiting for him…where he launches the ball at the rim like it’s a hand grenade hoping for a bail out call where he hits 1 of 2 fts. Not that I’ve given it any thought.

On top of that he drags his defender out to the perimeter freeing up the lane. Which is why we had so many more cuts to the rim and layups last game. It’s opened up the offense.

2 games is a small sample size. Advanced metrics show ISU is still an elite team without JJ on the court, but they are even better with him on the court

I think there’s a massive correlation without causation factor going on. When Toure was aggressive and in attack mode offensively early in the season, ISUs offense was elite. When he went through his slump and became completely passive, our offense got stagnant because his guy was camping out in the lane screwing up much of what the offense needs to do.

Once in KC, for whatever reason, Toure looked like a whole new player and was back in attack mode, and the offense was elite again.

I don’t think people get how almost impossible it is to run any sort of offense when you have a wing that absolutely won’t shoot, particularly when we also have Pleta and BB on the court that are strictly around the bucket guys.

I honestly think we’re still going to the final 4.

TN doesn’t scare me. UK beat them both times. They’re not a great O team.

Neither TN or Mich have faced a D like ours. MI apparently relies heavily on one guard to handle most of their dribbling. We can disrupt that.

I think Hyzee will give even AZ more fits than JJ did. That will be the dog fight.

I think Houston has the other side. Duke looks very beatable and I think Mi St / Ucon winner takes that bracket, but Houston can beat either of them baring major injury or an off nite/hot opponent.

Well, Tennessee did beat Houston (76-73)…so they have played a D like ours. Everyone points out that they lost to KY twice but conveniently ignores them beating Houston…with a score in the 70s. So we could definitley use Jefferson, even with limited minutes. The offense has looked good in rds 1/2, but TN is better defensively than the competition we’ve faced so far.

The average downtime for a mild low ankle sprain in the NBA is 1-2 weeks.

Watching his replay, I don't think his is mild. More likely severe.

For everyone saying we look better without Jefferson...please stop. Downright ridiculous! Not to mention, I'm sure this type of crap gets back to Josh and his family. People are grasping at straws trying to justify the fact our All American is down with an injury.

We played Tennessee Tech and a Kentucky team who quite frankly is not that good of a team. And to pull away from Kentucky it took career games from both Lipsey and Heise. Let's all get a grip here.

In order to beat Michigan, we are going to need Jefferson as healthy as possible and our team clicking on all cylinders.

If Josh is playing in the zone (similar to how Lipsey looked against Kentucky) he is the type of player that can neutralize that Michigan frontcourt and look like the best player on the court.

I can almost promise you there were some Texas Tech fans out there saying they looked better offensively without Toppin after they rattled off a few wins without him and dominated Iowa State in Hilton. How did that end up working out for them once the dust settled and they were out matched in talent?

IMHO: Our ceiling is highest with JJ on the floor. However, there are also times when he is on the floor and our other four players just kind of take a back seat and hope he can play some hero ball to get some buckets....thus the overall offense can be stagnant. Both things can be true.

Clearly when the ball is moving and its especially moving through JJ, we are at our best and that's our best chance to win.

We’ve also played weaker teams that we matched up with very well.

To go along with his. I think we played better in the Big 12 tournament than we have so far in the NCAA's. Arizona State is significantly better than Tennessee State and Texas Tech is a lot better than Kentucky, and we beat both of them by bigger margins. We also took the beat team in the country to the brink in Arizona.

I think the main thing right now is that we’ve played really well throughout the entire postseason, with or without JJeff. Hopefully they keep it up, and JJeff gets a chance to contribute soon.

He's either going to play some... or he's not. It will be what it is.

So funny reading everything from.... "I sprained my ankle once in my YMCA men's league, and I was good to go a week later, so I think he'll be fine!"... to.... "I think he'll play 5 mins"... or someone else saying... "10 to 20 mins"... or someone saying... "he'll be at 50%"... others saying he'll be... "80%", etc, etc, etc. So many experts! It's funny.

Come on. How many times do we see a team play a great game after losing a star, then come back to earth after a game or two. We need Jefferson to make a final 4 run.

Whether we have JJeff or not, Toure and Heise attacking the basket is key to opening things up for others. I, for one, would like to see what Jefferson can do with a little more space. If he comes back we need Heise and Toure to continue playing like they have been without him.

agree with all this, but also Houston was not Houston when they played them. Houston also beat Auburn by 1 and took a terrible Syracuse team to overtime all in that same time period they played Tennessee
