Brown appears to be the suprise of spring training thus far. Adding the sinker has given him new life. It’s great that it’s coming from a guy who sits around 98.

Also saw Imanaga is going to be on a short leash. I doubt they’d DFA him but I could see a trade where we eat a good portion of that qualifying offer that Jed **** the bed offering.

Boyd Horton Cabrera Steele Brown could be amazing. With Taillon holding Justin’s spot. I’d rather have Rea doing it but I’ll take it.

I know you absolutely hate Taillon but why people are absolutely in love with Colin Rea for having a barely over replacement season astounds me, much less expecting him to pitch to his 80th percentile outcome for a second consecutive year at age 36.

Cubs Assistant GM was on SiriusXM radio this morning and said early indications are positive on Seiya but will do more testing once he gets back to Arizona.

Dudes from Cascade. Nothing like seeing cut-ins during game and JD & Boog falling over themselves about folks imbibing at small town bar. Up there with apple pie.;)

Taillon typically cruises along then folds like a cheap lawn chair. That’s why I don’t like him. Rea threw well and always stayed competitive on the mound. ( he battled) Not sure why you’d choose to nitpick that out of my post but that’s fine. I’m just happy a guy with years of control is shaping into a possible long term starter for us.

Plus if Brown does shine. We have to opportunity to replace Imanaga Boyd and yes Taillon with Skubal. a premier closer, Wiggins and a couple reclamation projects in 27.

Skubal
Steele
Horton
Cabera
Brown
Wiggins

Skubal and 5 controllable starters is affordable.

Hopefully he's just getting them out of the way now because Taillon's Spring....not good. Just gave up 4 in the 1st.

Let's hope, he had a decent outing in the WBC. Either way one way or another the rotation will work itself out by the time Steele is ready. If he's still getting lit up to start the season he's going to make the decision easier. He's a veteran who has been fairly consistent and productive as a back half of the rotation starter up to this point that he probably gets the benefit of the doubt going into the regular season.

I still think Brown starts the year in Iowa to stay stretched out and keep working on his new pitch. Not only would that be better for his development but he needs to show he can string together several productive starts before I'd give him another chance in the big league rotation again. Given that there will be rotations spots to fill in 2027 its nice to have a few guys in the system that could possibly fill those spots.
