Is Jefferson underappreciated?

I think that Jefferson is a great player for us and certainly a 1st team Big 12 player. I am a bit surprised in 1st team All American recognition though. I guess it is based on being a great college player and putting up extremely good numbers.

I just read an NBA draft projection that has him going in the 2nd round as the #37 pick overall. Getting drafted at that level often means a pretty short NBA career.

Milan was projected at #45 in the same article.

Except for your top 3, can’t miss guys, lottery players are outplayed in college by 4th year guys all the time. You really think Flemings was better this year than Jefferson? Heck, Jefferson had a way better season than Peterson and he may go #1.

I don't know how any GM would ever use the overall #1 pick on Peterson. There are major red flags, and it may work out great. But if you draft him first and the issues that cropped up at Kansas continue in the League, it probably means your job.
 
He's a really good ball player but not elite. He's not a Fizer or Royce White type of 6-8 guy. I don't care if his numbers are good he can't take over a game like those guys could. If he could we'd only have like 3 losses

I agree that I wouldnt take him #1 either. I question him mentally. He is the most talented kid in the class and potentially has the most upside. That's what the daft is about. College achievements mean very little at that level. Hes got more NBA upside than anyone in the Big 12 however.

You are right, the NBA drafts on potential and not achievement at the college level. That's why there is little talk about Tamin in the NBA and he'll likely play in Europe to make a living. Also, let's go back to Troy Davis...great, great college RB that struggled to hang on for a few NFL seasons.

Exactly. When you watched Patrick Mahomes play at Texas Tech did you think he would have the best first 7-8 years of any QB in NFL history? College and pro are just two different things.

Do you want stats or just ability?
I mean id take Fred Hoiberg over JJ honestly. Victor Alexander also.
JJ is the best nonchalant ISU player ever maybe.

I’d put Haliburton on the list. At least up there with Jefferson. Royce White was technically a 2 year cyclone and was probably a better version of JJ if you look at basketball only.

Any way you look at it, the list is short.
