Open Letter to The Beat Reporters

"Hilton South" is a well-established nickname for the T-Mobile Center. I have never heard it called "Phog Allen East" until this year (and only in a few articles this week). However, it crossed a line when I heard The Beat Reporters podcast casually calling it "Phog Allen East." That is unacceptable. I expect some lazy writer using AI to use the term, but I have higher expectations of our podcasters. In other words, don't defile the magic of Hilton South by letting a Big 12 wannabe team's knock-off version of our concept come out of your mouths.

I'm talking to you @JakeBrend @The Rob Gray and Ben Hutchens [I cant find Ben's username]

And I only used the "greater than" sign in the thread title because I couldn't find a "not equal to" character.

Never mind. @AllInForISU helped me out.

They were just referring to it casually as a way of describing KU's homecourt advantage. They weren't using it as some official moniker or movement. Also, who cares?

Our fans are some of the softest, most sensitive bunches in the country.

Did you miss the light-hearted outrage vibe of his post? I thought it was pretty obvious.

Light-hearted outrage?

I'm really ticked! :jimlad:

Seriously, I prefer that they not use "the term I will no longer say" when referring to the KU presence at T-Mobile Center. Hopefully, the Beat Reporters get the point, agree, and comply. No nickname for the T-Mobile Center should be uttered in the same breath as "Hilton South."

P.S. And I just recognized that this is like begging Hassel to use it. :puke:

Light hearted, sure. But it was also clear this actually bothered the OP enough to make a thread.

And as the OP just noted, he truly wants to end its usage. Lol

Are you familiar with the OP’s fandom? He’s an elite, and generous, Cyclone.

Thanks for the affirmation.

On one hand, I don’t care what anybody calls the T-Mobile center.

On the other hand, I don’t want our podcasters using nicknames for the T-Mobile center that detract from the wonderfulness of “Hilton South.”

So I dialed up the tone a little bit.

Let’s just all vow to never refer to the T-Mobile center with a nickname other than “Hilton South.“
