High School Sports Thread

They are high school kids, freaked out a bit. If it could have went wrong, it did for Norwalk. My kid is on the team but didn’t play. Was a **** show ending with the T. Probably didn’t matter but unfortunate the way it ended.
Feel bad for the backlash #12 is taking, she had such a good year.
Feel sorry for the girl that was inbounding the ball, she is going to live with the results of her play the rest of her playing days.

Channel 13 just had a segment on their news about this. They said the coach was trying to call a time out to stop this? Plus the mistakes by people keeping the book. They maybe need new people keeping book. It will be interesting to see if the coach was trying to get a TO, the officials made a big mistake.

Today's line-up to wrap up the Girls Tournament. Games on PBS.

Safe to say the person keeping the official book is done doing it at the state tournament. Most teams keep their own book, you would have thought that they would have realized the official book was wrong and alerted the official book that they were wrong and called over the officials to get it correct. Maybe they tried and were blown off by the person keeping the official book, but it's why they have to be talking during the game. "That time out was on white," and make sure both agree, if not, then blow the horn and bring the officials over to straighten it out. I kept the book for varsity bb for a number of years, and its inexcusable to have something like what happened at the state level. We were always told if we were the official book, that if you are unsure, then ask, either the other person keeping the book or blow the horn and call over an official.
Most score boards today have the number of timeouts left for each team, you would have thought someone would have saw they credited the timeout to the wrong team and said something about it.

I believe Norwalk's book and scoreboard both showed Norwalk having TO left, the official book is where it was wrong. Norwalk argued case during TO but they went with official book after long discussion and assessed T in error. Norwalk's coaches were arguing, not sure if DCG coaches spoke up or knew what was going on.

The person keeping the official book should be finished doing state games, wonder which time out he missed. Just overall sloppy work by the official keeping the book, its why they need to be talking during the game to make sure that everyone is on the same page with the books.

The scoreboard last night in the Johnston game had the incorrect score at least twice last night.
It happens but they corrected it quickly, that is the key, it's easy to give the points to one team while it should have been the other. Everyone can see that, but the timeouts is a little different. Sounds like the scoreboard and the Norwalk book had it correct and the official book had it wrong. Since it's at state I wonder what the DCG scorebook had? Hate to say it, but the refs are required to go by the official book, everyone would have to agree that it was wrong for them to change it. Sounds like the person keeping the official book thought he was correct and did not want to listen to the other books saying they were incorrect.

Congratulations to the young ladies of Newell Fonda.
Proud of the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bears.
We might get to watch these 2 teams next year.
Nice to see Audi cheering on her team.

I wish they would do the straight YouTube thing like the girls union does! Although this is still much better than the availability of recent years!

Woof, game just started so maybe they are working out the kinks but so far they don't even have the score or time on the screen.
