The first three quarters were a battle...one the Sisters won. But the entire fourth quarter was like watching a car run out of gas during a race.

Tough one. Sure looked promising for a while though. I've believed all along that TCU was "just barely" good enough to win the somewhat weakened conference again. Yet it's still possible that it could end in a three way tie if BU beats them in the last game. That's improbable but always possible. I personally hate ties (especially in the NFL) and I would prefer a clear cut winner regardless of who it is. Miles is truly a great player. And she has just enough decent help to give them the edge.

Posted this in game thread too . . . .

After we had the 66-53 lead, TCU scored on 14 out of 16 possessions, including 5 offensive rebounds. They shot 10 out of 15 in that stretch, 4 Off boards got them new looks so that leaves one possession that they didn't score on (the second was the two missed FTs at the very end).
In the meantime, we shot 3 for 17 during that stretch with only 2 offensive rebounds.

Do they coach blocking out for rebounds? Didn't see any of that.
This has been an issue all season. To be sure that the other team does not fast break on us too many times on offense as we are shooting to many players are heading back down court to play defense.

It seems we had no coach at the time. I am a fan of CBF but this is when coaching has to take over. We have players trying to win the game all by themselves. This is when we need leadership.

That in a nutshell is the top teams in the league.

Height kills. TCU has more height than we could handle. There were several cases where they got rebounds over our guards who were blocking out. But 6’4” always wins over 5’9” and that’s what our guards were up against down low. We saw AJ trying to box out several times and one of the many monsters TCU put on the floor dominated due to height.

The commentator mentioned this, but this felt like a huge one for seeding. If you win this I think the committee has more opportunity to say “they had a 5 game slide without Jackson and Brown but now they’re proving they are a top 20 team.” Especially in the women’s game the difference between an 8-9 seed and a 7 seed is massive. There’s a big difference between the top 3-4 teams and teams in that 5-8 range.

The team has two more chances. First, finish the season strong with two wins. Especially over OSU. Second, make a statement in the tournament. If they fail to do either or both then they will certainly be relegated to the nasty 8-9 seed.

What's a little funny is this result is what I would have predicted, a 6-10 pt loss, but the way it happened was just devastating.

I'm pretty sure the selection committee has made clear that conference tournament results mean diddly squat.

That's been made clear by them via statements and not just people analyzing the final seedings. Conference tournaments are for entertainment and bragging rights when it comes to P4 leagues. Some wins in the tournament would be good for helping integrate Brown back into the lineup and maybe getting some sort of sustained team mojo going again. Important this year but not likely to impact seeding all that much.

And, like the last few years, the best matchups for TV and national attention will likely be in the SEC and Big 12 where those games will feature a boatload of ranked teams. Those have ended up with some good TV games the last few years and sort of steal the attention from the Big 12 since we have only one Top 16 team this season heading into the tournament. Last year we at least had TCU in the Top 10.
