Chicago Bears bought Arlington Heights track only to build in Indiana?

Detroit, North/West side of Philly, North/East side of STL, Camden, NJ, Trenton, NJ, Wilmington, DE, Baltimore and the list goes on but there are a lot of sad places. Just went through NW Indiana for hockey tourney last week and there is at least a pulse, not much but a little.

You haven't been to downtown/midtown Detroit recently, have you? I'm not saying there aren't A LOT of problem areas in Detroit (because duh, there are), but downtown/midtown Detroit is not the same city that earned them their reputation between the 1970s-2000s.

And as such, ALL of Detroit's teams have moved back there since the 2000s.

I mean it could not get much worse.

Now it just has half the city comprised of vacant lots and a fraction of the population. There are blocks upon blocks of nothing but vacant lots, or abandoned homes and buildings.

Its nice to see they cleaned up a few blocks downtown. But then you have all the people crying about gentrification being a bad thing when doing so.

But it still comes in as the #2 worst city in the US for crime.

US News ranks it as the #5 most dangerous city.

And comes in at #3 for violent crime and #3 for Arson.

I guess it used to be #1 in everything, so improvement sure, but still far from a utopia.

Hammond is closer to the city limits of Chicago than Arlington Heights. And it's on the lake. If they do end up there it will be fine. 25 min drive to Soldier from Hammond. I still think they will stay where they're at right now when it's all said and done.

I think its the different state thing that makes it such a big deal. Though the Jets, Giants, and soon to be Chiefs all play in different states too. The wild one is the 49ers; Santa Clara is an hour away from San Francisco.

It is 51 miles from Halas Hall in Lake Forest, IL to the proposed site in Hammond, IN. At best that is about a 1 hour drive for everyone associated with the team. Its basically a road game to play at your home stadium.
Oh hell no. It’s one hour just to cross the five miles near the state line on 80/94.

It takes 45-60 minutes to get from The Star in Frisco, to AT&T in Arlington. Is that a road game for the Cowboys? No. It's not. Anybody who says it's going to be the "Hammond Bears" or "Indiana Bears" have no idea WTF they are talking about.

I can't imagine how Chicago was ever as bad as St. Louis.

Go there 4-5 times a year for hockey and it's still think it's a rough city.

Reports say that Indiana taxpayers will be paying more than 2 BILLION of their dollars to put a stadium on the Indiana-Illinois border, literally RIGHT NEXT to the city of Chicago. That money could be used by Indiana taxpayers for schools, police, or just to reduce their existing property or other taxes. Instead, the state of Indiana is apparently going to funnel it directly into the pockets of a billionaire NFL owner. As a Chicago taxpayer, I say THANK YOU. 90%+ of out of town visitors to this stadium will be staying and eating in downtown Chicago. 90%+ of Bears players and staff will continue to be Illinois residents, paying Illinois taxes. Again, THANK YOU Indiana taxpayers for supporting Chicago. I didn’t know you were such big fans of our city,
I am also curious how this would play out amongst the state of Indiana as a whole. Suddenly, little ole Indiana has 2 NFL teams. If I'm the owner of the Colts, why don't I immediately go and ask the state for money instead of them investing in an outsider (another city/state) organization

St Louis just sucks. There's about a 4 block area from Union Station to Ballpark Village that's kind of fun and I really like the Soulard Neighborhood but other than that, it's just depressing. They nailed the Enterprise Center reno at least.

Red Wheel Fundraising? I know the guy from Carroll that started it.
Greater St. Louis is the absolute ass crack of America. I can't figure out why anyone would even want to live in that metro. I go down there a handful of times a year and nothing good ever happens. I guess if you like to people watch and your people of choice are pimps, prostitutes, meth addicts, ex cons, escaped cons, or some combination of several of those its your place.

I've only been to St Louis once when I was a kid so I don't really remember it. But anytime people talk about it makes me think of this scene

From what I've seen of St. Louis City Clark may have actually been in a decent area there. St. Louis County and St. Louis City are absolute trash. Most of the wealth lives in St. Charles County. Id rather live in greater KC 10 out of 10 times. However I do understand why the people of St. Louis County wouldn't want to be part of St. Louis City. How many large cities in America aren't part of any county?
Edit. I guess Baltimore is another one. Shocker

You just described my hometown and it's not St. Louis.

East St. Louis had quite the reputation, at least 35 years ago. We had an employee driving through pulling a trailer with furniture. He stopped at a red light and several guys ran out to the street and were trying to break into his trailer while he sat at the light. Luckily, he had it chained and padlocked shut and he was able take off before they were successful.

Ive heard some pretty wild stories from truck drivers I know driving through lousy neighborhoods. I know a few who are even crazier than the people trying to rob them.
