SO now all the whiners should be thrilled. What to ***** about next?
I really hope it wasn't. He got to the Super Bowl while leading the league in turnovers... it wasn't just him carrying the weight. I'm pretty indifferent to firing KAM, but doing so because of Darnold is poor judgment.
...And now we're drafting without a GM entirely?

My guess is that it's more of a draft reason...don't want him leading this year's draft since it's been so bad under his leadership.
Second to last in the league in starts by drafted players since 2022...that seems pretty bad...
Hopefully they pull from the Rams or Ravens GM tree this time as opposed to the Browns GM tree again.
Honestly, it can’t get worse for the Vikings in the draft. At least without him they have a fighting chance to draft someone worthwhile.
The Vikings really screwed up (thankfully for the other NFC North team fans) by running with JJ. One of the best rosters in the NFL wasted on a truly bad QB.
I agree there was more nuance to it but the average joe blow fan just sees the optics.
It can't get worse than waiting too long to fire to a GM and not being able to replace them, likely causing yet another wasted draft year right now? That's pure incompetence (I wouldn't call it "one of the best rosters in the NFL", either... I'd maybe go with "somewhat above average", but still).
All of this starting of course because MIN had the option of playing their top-ten pick guy cheaply and not giving up on him instantly, or giving up on him to sign a long term guy that someone else already previously gave up on. This is a clown organization masquerading as a serious sports team.
Realistically there is so much of a business around draft evaluations, it's not like you need to be some personnel wizard to draft. You could literally look at a few sources' best available, check your roster quick, and have a reasonable shot at having a decent draft.
In four drafts we can probably say that Jackson, Turner, Addison, Nailor and Reichard panned out. And it would be one thing if the other guys that didn't pan out were some level of underperforming but contributors. That's not really the case. Just tons of guys that barely contribute or are cut/on other teams.
The Falcons just hired a GM yesterday. It’s not like the Vikings are hiring a GM the day before the draft. Whoever they hire will have at least 2 months to evaluate the roster and make choices. It’s not that big of a deal and probably a net positive when you take into account how bad the last guy was.
MIN isn't hiring a GM at all until after the draft. ATL did better by hiring one yesterday. They at least have someone choosing a direction before the fact instead of after.
