Not that I’m at the top of their list, but o haven’t heard a thing from them. Why is housing NIL with the Foundation supposedly better than the Collective? Why the move?
I thought the House settlement made the AD's take over the Collectives.

Need more information to answer that....My question is this the David Moss from 80s Johnny orr team?
If so, show some respect people!
If not, carry on
Because NIL isn't NIL it is donations and pay to play. If you have a long-term budget that had donations as part of the budget and a 22ish million a year extra expense is rapidly thrust upon you by a settlement you had no say in, you need those donations more than ever. If you merely shift those donations over to a "NIL" fund, the donations directly to the athletic department will plummet and deficits will be larger. But "amateur student athletes" who will just bolt the next year for ever-bigger checks will be richer, far richer than 90+% of those being begged to donate. They of course will never give back themselves because the over whelming majority will blow the money young, but at least they will have their almost complete communications degree with 100 level credits from 5 universities to fall back on. Great system we have. I'm not really sure congress could mess it up, anything would be better.
I don't understand how this is such a difficult concept.
There wasn't year's of notice regarding the House Settlement for Jamie Pollard or Iowa State. In a very short period Iowa State Athletics budget went from around $122M to $144M. And it's not like the Athletic Department/ISU Foundation hasn't been hitting up alumni for donations for decades!!! And it's not like Learfield hasn't been hitting up corporations and businesses to sponsor ISU athletics.
So how did ISU fund the $22M+ (and it goes up every year!) House Settlement? Through reserves and that caps the amount of House/NIL money Iowa State can spend. Because I'm sure we need those reserves (plus We Will Donatons) to pay for more than a couple of years of House Settlement requirements.
To say Jamie shouldn't prioritize CyTown over We Will is lunacy. The investment is CyTown is a permanent revenue stream that can fund House Settlement in the future!!
For people who are critical, what is your REALISTIC $22M annual idea!!! And remember diverting current revenue streams (donor, sponsorship) means a new revenue source is necessary to fund ongoing operations to support the 450 student athletes at Iowa State.
For comparison football ticket sales in 2024 were $17.1M and all sport ticket sales were $23.4M (per DMR). Sure you can raise ticket prices, but does the Athletic Department risk non-renewals at 25percent increases (and that only raises $6M).
Donor Contributions were $36.0M.
BIg12 Media Rights were $43.7M and declined $3M in 2024 because the Big12 added Pac12 schools when OU & UT bolted to SEC.
What about more crowd sourcing? I get going after big donors for large facility projects is JP's bread and butter, but in this new world, why not try different things to maximize revenue? No point in explaining it anymore. To many people think there are magical donors out there willing to give us millions even though they currently aren't giving us millions.
Other than the beer issue, what else were you thinking?…..why not try different things to maximize revenue?
Just not an area I have much experience in. I just want some fresh ideas and approaches with a new landscape. If JP is that person, then great! He's proven he can take us to new heights and deserves all the credit for doing so. However, if we are just going to keep trying to do the same thing over and over again with the same results, then I think it's fair to ask questions.Other than the beer issue, what else were you thinking?

There's a bunch of ISU female athletes who could make good $ on a certain fan site.
I vote we put a giant pop can donation box in front of the stadium! What about more crowd sourcing? I get going after big donors for large facility projects is JP's bread and butter, but in this new world, why not try different things to maximize revenue?

You're a 46 year old man.@chuckd4735 why is that dumb? That's exactly what NIL is supposed to be.
Bake sales
Car washes
Door-to-door solicitation
Sell cookies or popcorn outside a grocery store
The possibilities are endless!

I think it was one of this yrs wbb players that did a ISU flag draped over her shoulders photo while on her campus visit. There's a bunch of ISU female athletes who could make good $ on a certain fan site.
Nothing like the first time buying that. Give them $30 for caramel popcorn and month later they return with a tin that may hold 2 cup fulls.I spent years selling Boy Scout popcorn. I was made for this new era.
I'd rather donate direct to the troop than buy it LOL.Nothing like the first time buying that. Give them $30 for caramel popcorn and month later they return with a tin that may hold 2 cup fulls.
