***2026-27 Mens College Basketball Thread***

The NET is broken if Iowa is at 12. They haven’t won a road game and are 0-2 in quad 1 games. And are 1-0 in quad 2 games. They are the only team in the NET top 20 without a quad 1 win.

How you can be 40% into a season and only have 1 win quad 1 or quad 2 win is an insanely stupid schedule.
Big 10 still plays 20 conference games. The Big 12 plays is back to 18. So they only have 11 non-conference games instead of 13.

7 of those games will be buy games, similar to everyone else in the Big 10 and a similar percentage to every major conference team.

Then it comes down how bad Xavier and Ole Miss have been. The MTE's are a crapshoot also, just look how bad Syracuse and Creighton have looked instead of Tennessee or Michigan like we should have been playing instead.

My point is you can schedule however you want, but it doesn't always work out once the season starts and he's scheduling sub-300 teams to blowout just like TJ does.

All that being said, I completely agree the NET is broken, it rewards you for destroying bad teams obviously and losses against good teams count more than actual wins.

The collegiate sports world has gone mad. Why not hire lineman that get cut in the NFL or hire USFL lineman after their season ends.
Just bring the whole line in, plenty of practice playing together.
Let's just be the minor leagues. No eligibility expiration. No education requirements. Just the best available players not in the NFL/NBA. Only tie to the school is the jersey.

Why’s that?
Right now I don't think they're a Sweet 16 team.
They're giving up big pts to comparable teams and I just don't see that working out well if they're say a 6 seed and have to play a 3 like Houston who can lock them up.

I know you meant sarcasm but it seems to be the way. Sigh.

Going through a philosophy change this year, but yeah, not a solid team at this point.

Points are points but it's weird seeing a D1 basketball player go for a layup on the 'shooting' foot twice in a row like Haggerty for KSU.

I read a report earlier this year that Pope gets fussy about NIL. Like they'll give a guy an offer $X, guy will then come back saying Other Team is offering $Y (where Y > X), will you match? Pope won't want to do that because ~ "This is Kentucky, we shouldn't have to negotiate".

"Blue Bloods" and everyone involved with them are still struggling with the concept that the main advantage that's made them exceptional for the past ~40 years (paying players) is blown up.
